Your mother is human too. She feels jealousy, resentment, bitterness, and abandonment. She's behaving a bit immaturely but really, most parents have trouble accepting that their children are individuals with choices.

Oh, I know. I was talking about the "@#%^'em" part of his advice.

What's the problem with it? Until she grows up and realizes that you're an adult taking advantage of an opportunity that most people will never get, it isn't worth allowing her to guilt you over it. If she's going to try keeping you under her thumb for her own selfish reasons, I question how good your relationship is in the first place.

My oldest son lives in Florida now, Orlando. I found out on his FB that he's planning to move to Mass.

WTF?

He's ignoring my texts and messages. Smiley: mad

Darn kids.

Smiley: lol

I know more about my kids through FB than I did before. It's a blessing and a curse. Mostly a curse.

The problem is, even if all you said is true (and it probably is) she's sill my mommy. Smiley: frown

She won't guilt me out of this, though. Done bun can't be undone. The only thing that'll happen is I'll just move away faster to get away from the situation. Smiley: lol

And if you're feeling particularly feisty there at the end, you can use that as your reason. "I'd have stayed, but you're making me so miserable that now I'm leaving! So ha!"

My mother has done her work on me well. My conscience wouldn't allow me to do something like that. I post on the forums to say stuff like that to strangers. Smiley: yippee

I still say **** 'em. My mom would do exactly what your mom is doing.

I think parents should help to prepare and encourage their kids to venture away from the nest and not cling to them. Everybody should be happy for you! Hawaii is awesome. Do yourself a favor and get scuba certified after you get settled in.

The weather there is great too. There's just enough humidity as to not be too dry and the trade winds almost make A/C an occasional thing. It's perfect. I've never been during the rainy season, but I don't think I would mind it. If you've ever been to the tropics and enjoyed it.. you're going to be freaking thrilled when you get there.

Haha, yeah. There are no real people on the internet.
