Character in Dead Poets Society kills himself when his parents tell him he can't go into Acting, and must instead spend ~10 more years becoming a doctor. 15 years later, in his next major gig, he plays Wilson on House.

Never saw Dead Poets Society, but that's pure gold.

My friends and I like to connect the different roles of the same actor. Never made the Wilson connection, but try this:

Peter Gibbons gets tired of working construction but does not want to give up the open air. He founds a charity that distributes TB drugs to children in Africa, later becoming sick. He is then treated by Dr. House.
