But I won't since I don't start threads anymore in =4. I'm not a very interesting person Smiley: lol

I just found out today that I got the job I applied for April 10th. Starting June 6, I will be working for the Wisconsin Department of Health Services as a Human Services Program Coordinator. That's a fancy way of saying that my main function will be determining eligibility for BadgerCare Plus, Family Planning Services, Foodshare (SNAP or foodstamps), Medicaid and possibly additional programs depending on our governors budget. To put it in short terms, I'll play detective with peoples cases and determine if they are eligible or not to receive benefits and issue those benefits if so. It's kind of what I already do working for HP Enterprises with a higher security clearance and more toys to play with.

And I'll be a public worker instead of working for a contractor.

tl;dr I'm making lots more money and probably pissing off fringe righties.

Seriously though, I already love my job. I have a huge daily impact on peoples lives and I actually feel good about my work as is instead of the typical corporate schmuck. I help people that are in desperate need on a daily basis.

Edit: I need to take an English class, it's been too long I guess.

Well, Medicaid is 50% funded by the fed and SNAP is 100% funded (the benefit, administrative costs are partially funded by the state). I'll do my best!

How do you care for someone with a badger? That pretty much just seems like a really bad idea to me all around. "Here's your new badger! he's a bit cranky, so make sure you don't shake the box too ... <Hisss!> <FaceREND!> ... ouch, that's going to leave a mark, ok, well, you guys have fun, I just need you to sign this form, and that one... aaaamd initial here... sure a bloody fingerprint works. Ok, now serving #67! Next!"

Welcome to the government job club though!

Badgers are pretty awesome. When they move backwards while hissing, they kind of look like a moonwalking slinky,

Agreed, but I still don't see where having one provide health care is a good plan. I guess its less painful than an HMO though now that I think about it. And probably les likely to outright kill you.

One of my closest friends does basically the same job (determines eligibility for disability). She says it is a very rewarding job, but can also be difficult when she has to deny someone who she wishes she could help. She also enjoys learning the medical aspect too, since she can talk to me about stuff she learns. I think it's great that you get to do that too, since I can see how much she enjoys it, and I hope it works out well for you. Congrats!

Grats! Goverment is the place to be. I work for the federal government...I smell fish forty hours a week. The best part is we are 100% self-funded so I don't have to listen to the jerks who say they pay my salary.

I'm curious what you mean by "100% self funded". So everyone who you deal with pays out of their pockets for the services you provide? Doesn't that mean that they *are* paying your salary? Or do you mean it's all taxpayer funded, in which case the same applies? I'm honestly curious what magical condition you're in here.

I'm guessing that means the amount of money fish-packing businesses pay for inspection equals the governments expenditures to pay the inspectors and staff of the US Dept of Fishsmelling.

"The jerks" being everyone outside the fish-packing business who don't pay into the same funding bucket as the fish-packers.

Wow, gbaji, you're extraordinarily thick today.

This, but we actually end the year with a surplus which goes to the taxpayers.

Does it cover all of the other expenses, such as office rent, vehicle expenses to get to inspections, etc? If not, it's not 100%.

Also gbaji, if it truly is 100% funded through the inspection fees, then when he says that to Joe Blow, its accurate.

Yes sir, 100%.

I believe we get somewhere around $1,000,000 in surplus every year too. You're welcome American taxpayers!

So everybody in the fish-packing business, everyone who sells fish, everyone who buys fish, and everyone who shops at a grocery store which sells fish are paying your salary? How is that "100% self funded?". Is the inspection 100% voluntary? If not, then your claim isn't true.

Congrats on your job Paskil!

Soon you will realize the incredible depth of the meaningless bureaucracy of the state. How to deal with listless sticks in the mud that have been there for years and don't give a **** about anything. Co-workers that have months of time off that never work on Fridays or Mondays. Then there are the people your supposed to help. I'm not even going to dig into that part.
