Oh, yeah.

The nearest celebration (the one I want to go to) is on Friday for some reason.

No, I know I didn't. And that's your fault for attacking religion so feverishly in the recent past.

Well, people deserve to know the reason we gives Eggs and have bunnies, no?

By now it's pretty common knowledge that the major Christian holidays are based off of pagan festivals. Should people know the history behind the eggs and the bunny? Yes. Should you use it as an opportunity to mock Christians? No, you shouldn't.

I'm not saying they don't, nor am I saying that wasn't your reason. I'm just saying that I didn't think that was your reason, prior to stating otherwise. To be honest, I don't think that's your reason afterward either, but that's irrelevant.

My reasoning is irrelevant really, I didn't say anything that was untrue, did I?

Because taking any opportunity you can to mock a person (or group of people in this case) is a **** move. And you may be fine with being a jerk, but that doesn't make it okay.

Why is it a **** move? Would it be a **** move if I disagreed with your taste in music or political affiliations, and then pointed out if/when they were baseless?

No, it wouldn't be a **** move in that situation; you have every right to disagree with someone's opinions and discuss why you disagree, regardless of the topic. However, that's not what you were doing. You were making fun of Christians for celebrating a holiday that had other origins. You aren't wrong about what you said, but you presented the truth in a condescending manner, and that is what made it a **** move.

I am aware that it's probably too idealistic of me to expect people to have discussions and arguments in a polite and respectful way all the time, but I expect it nonetheless. Especially from you all, because I know that you are intelligent people and capable of doing so. I enjoy the discussions and arguments here, but only when they are kept civil.

I was just asking why you thought it was a **** move. I'm glad you've explained your position and I can respect that.

My tone was one of weariness more than anything else. It's because there are very few Christians who know why their religious festivals are on certain dates or that Christianity was constructed via committee. Very few know that the dates are plagiarised from earlier religions to ease conversion and gain more followers.

I don't really see how I was mocking them outright, unless it was from the "Silly Christians and your plagiarised festivals" comment. I meant that to be read in the same tone of "Silly rabbit, trix are for kids". Hard to convey tone via text, though, I suppose.

That was the comment I was focusing on. By itself I may not have interpreted it that way, but like Ugly mentioned, your past history of anti-Christianity (for lack of a better term, you'll have to excuse me if that's not exactly the case) made me assume that it was an underhanded comment. I apologize for jumping to conclusions. Carry on.

Anti-theism certainly. Never anti-Christianity specifically. That's just the only side of it you'll see on a website that is predominantly used by people who are Christian/from Christian countries.

I can see why you'd take it egregiously, considering where I actually do stand on such beliefs. In this instance it was more of a joke, though. Kind of like when people make "Merry Christmas" threads, and I post something "Happy Sol Invictus".
