I am incredibly lucky to know some people involved in THE Beltane event, but I can't go this year (the journey up is really long and really expensive), and before getting to know said people over the last few months, I hadn't even heard of it in this form; I think there's very similar festivals across Europe under a different name and with different symbolism, but I really enjoy painted people who play with fire, and the sort of music they do up there, so it's totally something I would love to do.
There's a related local event (I need to walk 3.6 miles to get there and most of the way is across fields as far as I can tell, eugh), so I'll go there. Even if it means walking 3.6 miles across fields. And even if I know that it's probably gonna be tiny and unspectacular.
But yeah, Beltane <3.
They had a show featuring Edinburgh on telly today and there were some Fire Society folks performing on that for about 20 seconds.
I am so happy that I've now pretty much decided to move up there and that I can get to do and see a lot of fun stuff you don't get in the middle of nowhere again.
