Anyone who is a big "Weird Al" Yankovic will probably love this.
The new single off his new album is Perform This Way. A satirical parody of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way."
As most "Weird Al" fans know, he always asks for permission before putting any parodies on his albums. I'm sure most remember the Coolio incident with Amish Paradise.
Apparently Lady Gaga's people in the beginning gave "Weird Al" the permission to go ahead and do the song. After hearing the song they quickly rejected it. This caused a pretty big ruckus among fans. Eventually though Lady Gaga, or her people, eventually approved the song!

Now he actually doesn't have to get permission from any artists under the Fair Use law. But he does anyways to try and maintain relationships.
Frankly, I'm a huge fan of "Weird Al" and can't wait for the new album to come out.

Always been a fan of Weird Al, and am always amazed when a new album is released. Considering he's been releasing albums for almost thirty years, I mean. Then again, as long as people release songs, Weird Al will always have material.

The way I see it, you know you have "made it" if you show up on The Simpsons and/or Weird Al makes a parody of your music.
I greatly appreciate what Al Yankovic does and his status as an icon, but I think I'm outside the scope of tehe core demographic of his songs.

I'd just like to mention the French part is hilarious, because what he translated it to is false, which is probably on purpose.

Loved Al's song. I intitially dismissed Lady Gaga as just another pop singer among millions, and then insidiously her songs krept in, until I discovered I like her pop above all contempories. I go to K.D. Lang for quality, Underworld for ultimate artsy electronica, and Gaga to bounce along in a happy place.

Yeah, between the French line and the skirt steak comment, the parody song is awesome.
What happened was that Gaga's manager denied the song without even telling her about it, and when she heard about it and listened to the song she approved it. I hope she fires her manager for that.
I am a fan of Lady Gaga, but I'm not overly thrilled with the new song. The message is great and all, I just don't care for the song.

See, I like all of those too. Although I listen to less Aerosmith and more Pink Floyd. Except I don't listen to much Pink Floyd these days because I memorised so much of it in my 20s. Also love Nine Inch Nails, Jimmy Barnes, Nick Cave when he's being rough and raw as well as when he's being ballady (great range, that man). The list is too long.
Woohoo, Weird Al is coming to the Chicago area on May 29th. I hope I can go! I went to one of his shows like 6-7 years ago. It was so much fun. He always came out in costume for a particular song. Great Show.
I love Weird Al's music. Its fun and funny. He's also smart as hell.
