Beer-Dispensing System Will End Ballpark Lines

Quote:
For anyone who has ever waited for what seems like hours while concession workers laboriously fill plastic cup after plastic cup with delicious, overpriced ballpark beer, the geniuses at GrinOn Industries have unveiled their Bottoms Up system, which revolutionizes the process. The gimmick? Beer that flows into the cup from the bottom.

It’s all based on magnets — how do they work? — that open up a valve on the underside of the cup when it’s placed on the Bottoms Up beer-dispensing unit. Once the beer (flowing in at a tremendously faster pace than scientists or drunk ballpark patrons ever assumed possible) fills the cup enough, the valves closes and all you have to pop the cup off the stand and off you go, legal drinker.

Watch the video. I kind of want one of these in my home.

OK that's pretty ******* awesome but I would like to see how it handles an unruly keg or an overpressured system (unless it pressurizes it itself). That would solve a lot of problems at a lot of events. I don't see it making its way into bars or restaurants because who wants a plastic cup with dinner?

I'd imagine the magnetic valve could be implemented in glassware easily enough.

Ehhh, glass tumblers get beat to **** in a lot of bars and I doubt they valve could hold up. Besides 95% of the bars I know would never buy their own glassware when the distributors give it to them. They are cheap **************

This. However, I can see it being implemented when it gets to be a more affordable expenditure, for the coolness factor, and for nights like St. Patty's and New Year's Eve, when they have to break out the plastic anyway. Or outdoor events. I dunno, the brewery I used to work at would have jizzed all over this.

I don't think you'll need this for anything other than large events where you're going to be using plastic anyway. I mean, where else do you need to pump out 50 beers a minute?
But for concerts/festivals/similar large beer fueled events this could be very very good.

And then sold them as "Frosted Beer Cups".

Similar systems were invented over 4 years that cater to to bars that use glass tumblers.

The problem I have seen with tap adds is the that they rely in the bartenders and management not being a bunch of lazy bastards (which they all are). I am not familiar with turbo tap but I would imagine it would require daily (if not twice daily) cleaning. I've been to one bar that cleans its lines weekly and a few that soak their Guinness nozzle. Most bars do not even know these are things that have to be done. Without properly cleaned taps you get contaminated beer and pissed off customers (who tend to blame the beer and not the equipment).

Turbo tap seems like something that would really benefit a bar if its willing to take the extra steps. Thanks for the link!

I'd rather have a slow pour of a good quality beer over a fast pour of the swill that those systems are intended for.
