So I don't like Internet Explorer, but I don't really have the option to go about changing our browser on my work computer. At home, I use FireFox and I like it, it works perfectly.

So today, I was visiting Allah Zam like I usually do, and suddenly, my back button, refresh button, home button, and "internet options" on the tools menu stopped working. I could use the little drop down menu next to the address and go back, bu the buttons just didn't work. I did a quick search on the Googles and found that other people are having the same problem with IE8.

Anyone else having this issue on IE? I have the settings selected to delete my cache whenever I close the browser, and it's actually working right now. I don't know how long it'll last, though. It's so weird...

All Microsoft products are permanently broken and should never be used by anyone, anywhere.

Dunno. The only time I open IE is to pay my cable bill (Comcast hates Google Chrome, it seems).

Well, it worked fine until now. This is just plain weird...

Comcast works fine with Firefox, in case you want to run a 3 browser operation.

I just never got around to installing FF, since I use Chrome 99% of the time now.

How is the support for Chrome? I use Firefox mainly because I never got around to trying Chrome, but will I have access to a similar selection of addons/apps or whatever Google calls them? IS there any key benefit or feature that Chrome has that FF does not, or that Chrome has done better?

Wondering this too, although FF does everything I want it to so I'm happy with it.

You have a similar array of extensions (I think they're called extensions, anyway) and the like, and I've found Chrome to just be a faster browser.

This.

You can get your adblock, noscript, etc. for Chrome. Also Chrome has more "real estate" - less buttons across the top, less tool bars, more room to show the actual webpage. And it's MUCH faster than FF.

Oh? When was that released? Might start using it then, since that was a major reason why i didn't in the past.

The main reason I'm not using chrome is because I thought it didn't have noscript.

Whoops, you guys are right - there's not a noscript. I never used it on FF either, so I never checked for it with Chrome. But at the rate they're adding extensions, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't come out soon.

ETA: They have a Flash block though.

My favorite Chrome feature (other than its speed) is the combined address/search bar. Great addition.

Actually, after googling it yesterday, i found it's actually built right into chrome. Which is probably why i didn't know it was there. It's in options->under the hood-> privacy, content settings->javascript

Pretty sure every browser has done that for years.

Yeah, i'm gonna need to look into the other addons i use, to see if they're available for chrome, but at the least, i'm going to start using both at once for now. I really like how fast chrome is, but i also like how functional firefox is.

Is it just a blanket turn on/off or can you arbitrarily select specific domains?

When turned off you can manually select which sites you allow, although it doesn't seem to be as detailed as noscript is.
