Whatever you do, make sure it's only Dell you're buying.

So, I found a laptop with almost the exact specifications as the Alienware (only difference was it is an i5 instead of i7, and the graphics card is 1G instead of 512MB to boot!) for almost half the price. I feel like such an idiot. Smiley: lol

Thanks, PsychoticOne. And I'm sorry if I was a douche. Smiley: flowers

This is what I generally use when comparing video cards. But it's not very extensive when it comes to mobile ones. Alienware is not where you should look when it comes to computers in general now. Crazy overpriced.

Is there a specific reason you're looking for a laptop? I tend to use laptops for basic stuff when I'm out and about, and build a beefier home system. It's significantly less expensive to build a system with good specs if it's *not* a laptop. So unless you absolutely have to play CivV whilst riding on the bus or something, I'm not sure why you'd go that route.

More and more I'm seeing people not even bother with laptops unless they need to be able to write documents and whatnot while traveling. For personal use, lots of people are just using high end phones or the Ipad (gasp!). Why carry about $1,500 of stuff, when all you're likely to do is browse the web and maybe send/receive email and goof off?

I'm glad (and so is OOT) that that's not the deciding factor in my avatar selection.

Amagami would be so much more awesome if each character got 6 episodes instead of 4. It's really hard to squeeze everything into only 4 episodes.

Also a tip with video cards: higher numbers does not always mean better. A 5670 is not better than a 4890, for example.

If you didn't already buy the laptop you quoted Belkira, upgrade the HDD to a 7200RPM if at all possible. If you already bought it with a 5400RPM drive, it's not the end of the world, but it's a noticeable difference.

Very much so. I had a slower HD for a long time. Took forEVER for Windows to load. I made sure this last one was a 7200 RPM.

Yeah, Kao mentioned that. I didn't get the one I quoted, but the one I did order is only 5400. I'm going to upgrade it as soon as I can.
