I'm sure there has been a topic in here at some point about the strange hexagon pattern in Saturn's atmosphere. It was first discovered by Voyager in the '80s, and seen again by Cassini in 2006, confirming that it was a persistent phenomenon.

Earlier this year, a team of physicists set out to prove that it was a natural function of turbulence, and produced a lab simulation of the hexagon.

Quote:
Apparently, these shapes are not uncommon in fluid dynamics and can even be seen in hurricanes. This seems to be an example of a well-known phenomenon in one field being relevant to another in a completely unexpected way. But it takes a while for each community to be aware of the other one's results.

I read this as Satan's Hexagon Explained, and I thought you were trying to summon the devil. Pretty disappointing.

Funny story, I thought you were referring to the quote and so I spent some two minutes looking for differences between the two.

I have got to stop reading gbaji posts.

It took you two minutes to realize there where no differences between that three word sentence?

Eh... I'm not sure. I understand why someone might do that, but to me, having an ! in the middle of a sentence just doesn't look right to me.

I don't know, i'll think about it.

Stuff like this is the reason I started out a physics major.

Then I realized I liked writing sci-fi stories more than I liked doing the actual science. Math is hard, yo.

How are you on the idea of (1) writing scripts and (2) a system involving multiple parallel realities?

Hm, well, the simulated recreation kind of ruins the mystery and awe. It's kind of neat that Saturn spins at the exact speed it needs to make a hexagon. I guess if it rotated slightly slower, there'd be an octagon?

Multiple parallel realities is fine, but I'm not a script writer. I suppose I'm okay enough with dialog, but my preferred writing viewpoint is limited omniscient third person "deep" (found in most modern romance novelists), which isn't exactly conducive to screenplays.
