Okay so here's the story. I'm starting uni in September and I need a laptop. The problem is I'm a poor student and so have about a £500 budget.
So, I was wondering if you guys would be able to suggest something that's not too expensive, whilst at the same time not being total ******

Define "not total ****". It'd be easy to get you something for word processing, browsing the internet, listening to music, etc. What else do you intend to do with it?

Close runner up is the Egyptian Pound. English on one side, Arabic on the other, and awesome images of various ancient Egyptian ruins on every bill.

I doubt anyone drunk enough to not notice which bill they are using has the cognitive faculties to discern size differences in their money.
I'd look around for a refurbished Latitude D830 or E6500. should be able to find one in your price range with a decent warranty. If you plan to be on the go with it alot, definitly get the docking station. will save alot of cable wear and tear.

You could buy about 22 of India's $35 laptop. That would last you a while.

I've got the Latitude E5400 and can definitely recommend the series. It is a sturdy laptop and suits my needs well (which are similar to the needs of a college student, assuming you don't plan on playing all the latest games on it). The docking station it came with is also really awesome for keeping it at my desk at work.
