iGadgets and iTunes.Follow

I have recently discovered the beauty of downloading music through iTunes. It's just so damn easy. But I'm having trouble understanding how iTunes works.

A few weeks ago, I ripped a couple of my old CDs into my iTunes and copied it onto my iPhone. The next time I plugged my phone into iTunes to have it synced, it copied all of those CDs back into iTunes and deleted them off of my phone. I didn't realize it until yesterday. Tuesday night, I downloaded a new CD from the iTunes store directly to my phone, bypassing my computer. This morning, I decided to plug my phone into iTunes to get one of my old CDs back onto my phone so I could listen to some of the songs today. After it synced up, I grabbed my phone and left for work. I was running pretty late, so I didn't check my phone.

I get to work today and go to plug my phone in and start up some music, and I found out that, while I have my old CD back on the phone, the new CD I just downloaded on Wednesday night is missing...

What the heck am I doing wrong? Why won't it just send a copy to iTunes but leave this **** on my phone?

Itunes syncing can be strange at times. Go into the settings and look at exactly what it's set to sync and what it isn't.

I'll do that when I get home, thanks. I am pretty new to it, but it sort of seems like it's set to only pull **** off of my device and put it onto my computer, which seems completely backwards... Smiley: lol

If you have more music than space on your phone iTunes may randomize what it syncs.

That, or iTunes just plain sucks.

This. I do miss the drag/drop of some of my older devies because it was so simple to add Just new songs to them.

One thing to keep in mind is when you have your iDevice and iTunes running, if you've only downloaded items on the iphone or w/e just do a 'backup' instead of syncing, that way your phone remains the way it is with a ghost backup on your pc.

I generally back mine up about once a week, mainly so that the order my games/apps are in changes (and thanks to Openfeint I downloaded a few more games to the mix).

Make sure you set it to manually manage your music. Autosynching is one of the stupidest functions out there.

This is the only setting I could change, so I've done that. Thank you, I hope it works.

It works well for me, especially if I go to a friends house to grab some of his tunes. I can't even fathom why someone would autosync in the first place.
