No, wait. Dorothy
You want Anna to punish you, don't you?
It was the most appropriate response I could think of on such short notice.
Listen, Usagi. Lady Godiva was a freedom rider. She didn't care if the whole world looked. Joan of Arc, with the Lord to guide her; she was a sister who really cooked. Isadora was the first bra burner, and you're glad she showed up. Oh, yeah. And when the country was falling apart, Betsy Ross got it all sewed up. And then there's Maude. That old compromising, enterprising, anything but tranquilizing, right-on Maude.

I've never felt more tingly inside. Inside my ******.

This still doesn't detract from the fact that Maude and Dorothy are the worst female names ever.

Dorothy may be a little old fashioned but I see nothing wrong with it. Its a nice name. It does bring to mind images of chain smoking old dears with violent sons who never, ever buy a new coat (from the soap opera Eastenders). But its still a nice enough name.

So, now to rant ...

Whats wrong with Americans? One name is not good enough for you? Oh no .. you must have two. Not content with Katie .. it must be KatieLynn (and I could list off many many more but chosing a real poster just adds for value - sorry Katie).

More name does not mean quality, you silly people! Smiley: motz

Now that I've potentially insulted at least 1/3 of America I'll leave you be Smiley: nod

This occurs when a family has so many children, they have to start recycling names.

AN COMMON CONVERSATION IN THE HEARTLAND OF AMERICA:

"Thelma Sue! You just popped out another young'in. What's this, the third one in the last year? How many Lisa's do we have? 3? OK, how bout "Lisa-Lee?" Oh. "Lisa-Marie" then? Alrighty. I'll fill out the welfare card."

I'm not sure what the worst girl's name is, but I know the best. Anything that sounds natural at the end of the sentence: "And now, dancing on the main stage, give it up for [insert name here]."

Whenever someone I know is about the have a baby girl, I suggest that they vet whatever names they're considering by seeing how they sound in that sentence. If you're going to name your daughter Candi, you might as well invest in a pair of tassels and a G-string now.

This is a pretty stupid reason to hate American names, when there's a much better reason available: why in the HELL do we all insist on naming our kids the same stupid trendy names as everyone else?

Why is every third boy child in the States named Jason? Why is every other girl child named Emily? What is the goddamn POINT of trendy names for kids?

I know exactly one Harold. I know two Georges. I know about a million Michaels.

My parents picked Samantha and Maxine. The 74th and 966th most popular names in 1978.
