If the admins are seriously considering this (I doubt it), there probably should be a poll in the Asylum, too. I mean, they shouldn't get punished without a say because one person was being a ******** I really think the admins should just let this thing die, otherwise they are just fanning the flames, and it's already been explicitly said that moderating drama is apparently no fun and stressful.

I think if they want to fix the "issues", they should seriously sit down and think of the actions they could take that would truly make their jobs easier. I don't think pissing off =4 would take any weight off of their shoulders.

Pfft.

If peeps ain't following the rules, it's because:
a) the rules aren't consistently reinforced, or
b) the rules are wrong.

Please try fixing a) before tinkering with b).

Oh, and {cat-poo reference bandwagon} - Kaolian is a kitten poo.

Well if that's true, let the Asylum be the high brow discussion forum, and the OoT be the uncut raw gathering of drama/haet/memes/elitist @#%^s.

This is actually what I always thought it was like. Honestly, I think the admins just need to take a deep breath and let the dust settle. Merging asylum and oot and making a newbie forum will result in lurkers like myself not posting in either. I'm not a newbie, yet I'm not one of the reg's in the oot. I lurk alot and every now and then (usually when drunk) will post something. I have no interests in posting in a newbie forum where everyone has to be sensitive to someone's feelings. This is the internet, if you haven't figured out you aren't the special snowflake you thought you were, someone needs to tell you. If I say something retarded, I expect to be called out on it and flamed for it.

I also have no interest in reading peoples thoughts about politics when half the opinions are ******* retarded. If I wanted to debate politics/religion/world views, I'd visit a site that is not a video gaming site and debate it with people who have a clue. Not saying all posters don't have a clue, I see a handful of people who know what the hell they're talking about, but the majority are just sheep or trolls.

Leave the forums as they are, move threads that don't belong and tell people that whine about the big bad meanies to grow up. If they don't have the skin to deal with real life responses to their stupidity, they're not going to last long in the real world, why should they last long here

I voted to keep the forums the way they are. I'm on the "move the offensive threads" bandwagon. I like being on bandwagons. Makes me feel like one of the cool kids.

Well, that's going to account for 70% of the threads here being moved.

Catwho's perception of the two forums:

1. OOT - Where Catwho goes to shoot the ****.
2. Asylum - Where Catwho goes to rate down Varrus discuss politics besides Daily Kos

I think they are fine the way they are, provided people remember it's the Internet.

Apparently everyone but the driver gets to wear modified sailor hats. The driver gets a neat safari hat.

If you really want a kind and gentle forum then make a third oot, draw new posters to it, and moderate it heavily.

If you kind of want a sandbox forum, and really can't get past the fact that the oot has become something antithetical to it's original purpose, due as much to inactive moderation as mean posters, then start locking and moving threads to the asylum (which by the way has also become antithetical to its original purpose.)

If you want to alienate every regular here and probably have the same problems crop up in another year as the old oot regulars are just going to move to the new oot, then merge.

Taggart: I got it! I got it!
Hedley Lamarr: You do?
Taggart: We'll work up a Number 6 on 'em.
Hedley Lamarr: [frowns] "Number 6"? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that one.
Taggart: Well, that's where we go a-ridin' into town, a-whompin' and a-whumpin' every livin' thing that moves within an inch of its life. Except the women folks, of course.
Hedley Lamarr: You spare the women?
Taggart: Naw, we rape the **** out of them at the Number Six Dance later on.
Hedley Lamarr: Marvelous!
