Well I have installed the POL Viewer from POL website and when I go to install FFXI it tells me that there is an internal error and to consult msi.chm

I have tried running it as an administrator and in SP2 compatibility mode.

Oh I am using the Vana'Diel Collection DVD. Thanks in advance for replies.

I have seen this problem before with other games.

First are you using vista? If you are not using Vista there is no reason to install the POL client from the playonline.com website, just install the client from the DVD. If you are in fact using vista then make sure you installed the correct POL client and not one from another region such as the Japanese client.

Make sure your computers local region settings are set to what you are installing. If you have your computer set for Japanese (For everything) it can cause install issues as it changes how some unicode applications function.

The msi.chm is just a windows help file which dumps error codes which can sometimes direct you in the right direction on the problem.

If all else fails try to uninstall and reinstall the POL viewer application.
