Hi,
I am having some big problems with FFXI. I play fine on my desktop but recently I just got a new labtop. Heres the specs for it. Its a P4 2.8 GHZ Hyper THreading and 512MB ram, 32MB Geforce FX 5200. I installed the game and everything and right when I finish updating and hit play it loads up FFXI but then gives me the blue screen! then it automaticly restarts. I think it said it had something to do with the nv or nv4.dll. I am not sure whats going on, I installed multiple drivers , The OEM driver from Toshiba, the Detonator drivers from Nvidia and it still gives me the same problem. I have the Toshiba 17 Inch wide screen so the max res is 1440x900. I am not sure why its doing this. When I turn down the res to maybe 1280x800, it will load the game but the main movie flickers constantly and when I get to the "select character, create character etc.." screen it just go black and white and I cannot see anything. This really pisses me off to sit there and wait hours for it to update. Please someone help!!

That's because a 32mb graphics card doesn't have enough power to run any 3d game at that resoluion. It's the equivelent of trying to run a car powered by a gerbil on a hamster wheel. My geforce FX 5900 ultra "might" do it, but the 32 mb flat out will not. Sorry.

Thats not necessarily true. Just about all labtops equipped with the Geforce4 440 Go with 32MB runs FFXI at 1280x1025 easily. Its really strange they a higher end card like the GeforceFX 5200 with the same amount of memory would have problems.
