In Germany, legal alcohol buying age is 16 for beer/wine, 18 for everything else (even if it's watered down 4% stuff). Smoking age got changed from 16 to 18 like... 3 years ago.

Actual drinking age (again, for beer and such) is 12 when you're accompanied by an adult, weed smoking age is 18 iirc.

Cannabis laws in Germany are rubbish anyway. You can own it (up to three times as much as in the Netherlands, depending on state), smoke it, but buying it is prohibited. Yeah, right.

Oh Maz, one of the guys in my new guild is in the Danish army. It's weird, he's been in war and all that and I've met my fair share of war veterans and they've all been the kind of crazy I just want to stab in the face (but won't because they've usually done a good service to someone or else at least risked their life for a cause, or are related to me) but he's just ******* serene. It's almost creepy. But nice and calming. He said the Danish army takes good care of their people's minds. That's nice.

As for my own family history, on my dad's side my great grandfather got killed by some Dutchies in WW2 and my grandfather killed some Frenchies in WW2. On my mum's side, my grandma got put into a concentration camp because she was involved in some activities related to possibly overthrowing the government, so it's all good.

I managed to just barely not Godwin this, right? Right?

Wow, so many people with military families.

My own has been involved in the airforce about as long as there's been airplanes. My Grandmother's Uncle was a WWI flying ace, my Grandfather worked in the military lab where they designed some of the first air-air missiles, and both my parents were in the nuclear silos, and I have enough other family members involved to lose track over who did what.

For better or for worse I have a bum knee that kept me away from that military stuff (that and my parent's insistence I go to college). Probably for the better... Smiley: lol

My families military ties aren't that strong, we were never involved in any fighting. My dad was in the merchant navy during the Falklands war, and my grandfather on my mothers side was involved in cracking the Enigma code. Although, my great grandfather on my dads side fought in both world wars, and survived, only to die about 3 years before I was born, I think.

I haven't checked for myself lately, but I don't think there have been very many people in my family who've been in the military. I have one who briefly served in the first Gulf War, but aside from that, I don't know about anyone else.

My family's bonds with the military really disappeared after my grandfather left the NAVO, my dad only joined because he had to.
My granddad however worked for the NAVO most of his life, and he served in Indonesia although I've never heard him say a word about that and it's pretty much a forgotten thing in our family. With what the Netherlands did there it's not something to be proud of and with how my family works I understand why it's the way it is, although I'd like to know more about it.
Not that I expect that to happen though, he'll never speak about it and I think he'd be angry if I asked him about it.

And I do not want to see him angry... He gave me a speech a few months ago after giving me the money to buy a camera that that money better be well spend and I've never been as scared in my life, the man is terrifying when he speaks like that.

Totally!

If there's one thing I learned at a young age; it's that once you've been a flick of your wrist away from vaporizing a half-million people, giving your kid a good lickin', for something they shouldn't have been doing anyway, doesn't really pose a moral dilemma. Smiley: lol

Last night we were 1 dps short again. One of our ranged DPS had a computer failure of some kind, and hasn't been able to log in all week. So we pugged a DPS. I asked the gal in charge of finding the pug, to find someone who seems like they had a good personality and could listen.

I got what I asked for, he was a nice guy; he also did 2k dps. I got a 0/0/71 Unholy DK (he was dual-spec'd into 0/71/0 frost Smiley: wink) with green gems, no meta, and who yearned for herioc/emblem gear.

Anyway it didn't matter, we needed a warm body for the ICC weekly (Rot+Fester) and someone who didn't mind wiping on Sindy with us, since it was the first time we saw her. Speaking of the dragon, on the last attempt we finally hit the enrage timer so the DK didn't really hold us back thankfully.

Honestly it was tons of fun, though. I really missed doing progression raiding the last 2 months. Smiley: lol

So my druid hit 80 two days ago and I have been farming randoms like crazy. While waiting to que up I saw someone needed heals for a toc 10 run. I told them I only had a 3800 gs and they said they would give me a try. Well turns out I out healed both the other healers. Both healers were pallies. They ended up making me a tank healer and put a pally on raid. I did around 3300 HPS the whole fight. I was happy

So guys, my computer crashes every time the adds spawn on Halion 25 HM apparently, and I can't upgrade it till the weekend. We had an insane number of DCs from quite a few raid members, but even after the worst (including me) got removed, they only got him to P2 once because it kept happening. WTF?

My PC crashes about 20% of the time on Putricide heroic too. At least I should be fine for Sindy and the Lich King tomorrow, but since Putri is now officially farm content, we're likely to do him before the weekend and I might have to wait it out again.

/cry

Edit: Ran some heroics with a guildy on his freshly-dinged 3k GS moonkin. He out-DPS'd people in T10. Fun tiemz.

Yesterday I had a retpally in ridiculous gear (at least I assume it was, as he had 30k hp in said gear and his weapon appeared to be icecrown) who did less than a third of the total damage my noobtastic DK tank did.

._.;

Sounds like he was slacking.

You can run people through ICC25 hardmodes, though. Let them commit suicide, go on with 24, give them loot.

Makes me sad. Very sad, since its very true and my guild can't kill Sindy 10 normal. Is it bad that I am hoping I have to heal this weeks 10 man so I can get my druid in to a LK kill 10 man group?

My rogue with a barely 5k GS can almost out DPS a 6k GS lock from my guild.

I can usually beat 90% of the guild DPS when my druid DPSs even though I usually tank and have less good DPS gear. :(

Also some guildies get much lulz when I do BGs with them on my priest. As of now only 1-2 people would I want doing rated BGs with me.

The ****** part is I don't feel I can recruit unless I get the KS as trying to recruit to beat LK10 is well very very very lame and will just result in lulz, the bad kind unfortunately.

Horse, I know what you mean. I don't think recruiting good players is at all possible unless you grab the severely undergeared ones or have at least 7 hardmodes down.

I also understand struggling on Sindy to some degree. We're going to start progressing on her in hard mode tonight. Should be easy though because we've already got Putri down and she doesn't seem to be harder than him.

Do parse combat logs to have a better idea of who's slacking when or standing in fire or anything like that. Recount can actually show how bad people are failing on mechanics, too (check damage taken).

About Sindy in general, what part do you struggle on the most? Generally I've found that positioning the raid on the stairs is easier than the Aethien-endorsed balcony tactic.
Have the tombs position themselves at the corners of the bottom of the stairs, and the rest of the raid at the top of the stairs for the beginning of the flight phase; have casters set up a PowerAura that shows Unchained Magic with a timer as well as Instability stacks.

Also never kill any Frost Tombs prematurely.

I'm actually just noticing that they position her facing to the right in that video, we do it to the left but I think it doesn't matter.

Also also, I'm not sure people can be carried through LK/Halion hardmodes yet. Not very easily, anyway.

We're working on Sindy ourselves.

We had problems with people not being able to run out when she sucks you in. Our PuG had the most trouble, I gave up healing him.

And the bombs that go off at awkward angles when you are trying to hide behind the frost tombs took some getting used to.

Oh my favorite was when both healers got trapped and they freed me only to have a bomb go off a second later, that hurt a lot. Unchained magic wasn't giving us too much trouble thankfully...

Just out of curiosity, have any of you guys tried it with frost resist gear?

Also Horse posts good music. We had The Brothers Cazimero playing in the car on the way to work today.

Ok, that's enough random thoughts now... Smiley: lol

The only time we had Frost Resist gear was with a plate DPS offtanking; he kept his weapon and part of his gear but put on some frost resist gear, too.

I use FR gear as it still has loads of stam and then solo tank since me dieing is not what is causing us to wipe. With over 500 FR the damage is pretty manageable and the boss should be die before it becomes an issue.

Yes, I am GM and I need to start remembering to do stuff for WoL.
