I have a hunter level 70 and a warlock level 66 (both allies), but i always wanted to have a shadow priest. Now i decide to give me a chance to level one, but I would like to hear some words from ppl who have shadowpriests toons: are they really cool?Do they worth the time i would spent to get from level 1 to 70? Are they 'at least' ok for BGs( cause i love to do BG)?I do know that SP are great to support raids teams, so im also thinking that would be cool to have one to help my guildies....

Besides that... im thinking about go horde this time...so...undead, troll or Blood Elf? I really dont wanna go BE, and everybody plays undead...trolls are cool, exotic and so rare...how about a troll shadowpriest?

Thanks in advance for any reply!

ps: sorry about my english...:/

haha, you won't have a pet to hide behind anymore. but you'll probably suffer that shock no matter what class you roll.

if you ever join a group for a 5-man, you will be asked to heal.

i really enjoy healing the battlegrounds. melting face was fun, too.

roll troll if it appeals to you. in the lvl 50's i started to wish i had rolled NE instead of human... it's bothered me ever since. recently rolled my second priest. i'm very happy with NE, regardless of racials.

Hi Ixidoria!

Thanks for your reply... hope i get more ppl replying...

Thats right...i'm missing my pet... i'm saying it cause i just started a Troll Priest just after my first post here... please, tell me: things will get easier when i get shadowform, right? Cause man...its so harder to kill the mobs...i know.. hunter and locks are the easiest classes to grind...but its a pain in the *** to level a priest...i´m at level 9 now.

I was thinking the same exact thing. But i went undead anyways becuase of the pvp abilities and the extra dot.

I have a 70 hunter and my 1st toon is a 63 lock. I rolled a priest because i wanted to go "pet-less", be able to get instance runs anytime, and find out what it's like to be a healer. I must say I enjoy the role of healer quite a bit in bg, and im in no hurry to level beyond 39 until I have a ton of honor(38 now).

I kept with the horde on all 3, as this makes the most sense in regard to game finances. I do believe if you want to run any kind of priest undead is the way to go though.

I don't think the sp vs. holy vs. disc matters greatly, because i've seen some really skilled sp's rack up crazy heal numbers in bg's. Safe to say though, I can survive a lot longer in battle with my priest than I can with my hunter, and this is primarily due to my heavy disc. build.

Good luck with your toon, and I think I stopped missing my pet once my battlegroup realized I'm their master :)

I had the same problem, but don't worry. Just keep on trying. I suggest getting a good wand, and at level 12 you'll get Inner Fire, an armor buff that helps tremendously. I would also suggest taking the time to go to Ghostlands at level 10 or so, that zone is the best low-level zone out there. You level so fast there it's not even funny. Do all the quests, and you'll end up with a couple blues and a ton of good greens from the Tranquillian faction.

If you make a Horde Shadow Priest, the choice of race is clear:

Undead.

Devouring Plague and WoTF are simply awesome.

Just because Undead is THE way to go.. DON'T! :) Make a Troll priest. Ya mon! Wee R thee Best Looking, Mon!

If you don't want to roll Undead, I'd go for Blood Elf, simply because of the racial affinity to magic makes them more attuned to being casters.
HOWEVER undead is definitely the way to go, I don't think troll priests are that rare, I certainly see quite a few of them.
Personally the one thing I love about being undead is not just will of the forsaken but also the underwater breathing ability kicks ***.

Spacevixen lvl 55 undead shadow priest.

Yes! More replies...thank u guys!

As I said, i made a troll priest... i feel like i´m really someone in the middle of the crowd! He´s name is Jujumojo (i´m at level 12 now) :)~

I have now another question: some ppl keep telling me i should give up going shadow all the way cause at the higher levels it will be very hard for me to get parties for the instancies (especially in Outland). Is that true?

Thanks in advance

rodmonte, i can tell you first-hand that a good wand and high spirit gear help enormously. wands and spirit gear are in the game for priests.

casting while being attacked is slow and painful. cast shield before combat so you can get a few spells in without interrupts from being attacked. then shoot your wand when the mob is about at 40% health. (attacks don't interrupt wanding, so it won't compromise your dps). ***every time you're in town, check AH for a wand with higher dps***

i recommend 5/5 spirit tap, regardless of what talent tree you decide you want to put most of your points into. for leveling 5/5 wand specialization is a good choice, too (because you wand often).

personally, i put all points into shadow until i have mind flay because this spell is fantastic! (then i keep putting points into shadow because i get a lot of use out of silence.. then VE... then shadowform... suddenly, i'm a shadow priest)

i was able to heal as shadow through ramparts and blood furnace. after that, I was struggling a little. i respecced holy/disc and now healing is EZ mode (i even ***** around during trash pulls... just the boss fights require my full attention).

the thing about troll priests is their racial (bersekr) helps allot for speed casting. cutting down on the casting speed really helps out when your party members are going OMFG WE NEED HEALING OVER HERE!!. Just remember to use it. I've had it hotkeyed on my troll priest for a while but only remembered to use it consistently at 30.

It will be more difficult to find a group than if you were holy, this is true. But the same can be said for all dps classes, it's harder to find a group as dps than as the tank or healer. With that said, I would totally go shadow until you hit Outlands at least. Much faster leveling and you can still heal fine in the lower instance. Once you get to Outlands, then it's time to think about choosing Shadow for dps or Holy/Disc for healing. You can't have both.

I'm shadow and loving it, find a good guild and you never have problems finding groups.

Ok, thanks for all the opinions... but i give up...wait!...not to do a shadowpriest...but to be a troll...well...i like a lot to do BGs and unfortunately, thats true...undead rocks for BGs...WOTF is great and that dot (Devouring Plague) is nice, cause it heals u too. Also, waterbreathing helps in a lot of quests... its a shame that blizz made this way...one race with the best choices for pvp...if u dont care about PVP u can go BE or troll, but if u have plans to do BGs, go undead...

Actually, a priest gives up pvp because of lack of survivability. I tried some BG's with my raiding priest and guess what... :) I can't even heal ok, not to mention kill something. Maybe if one specs heavy into disc, then it could be viable...
