Stealth in PVP? Beginner questions.Follow

I've got a rogue going in PVP, she just hit 30, and Im getting into areas that are often populated heavily by the opposing faction.
After my first encounter with a high level enemy, in which I played ring-around-the-tree with him for five minutes in stealth, I'm forced to wonder:

How does stealth PVE compare to stealth PVP? I'm a gnome rogue with maxed out Master of Deception. I can get inside 8 yards of the front of a yellow mob without being noticed. Green mobs will occasionally walk right through me without so much stopping and looking at me.

How does this compare to a PVP experience? How close can I get to the front face of a yellow enemy before they're capable of seeing me? what about an enemy player ten levels above me? Let's look at a worst case scenario. A mounted L70 human comes down the road. How close can I get to his front face before I'm busted?

Keep in mind I don't make a regular habit of approaching from the front. This information is mostly for evasion and staying hidden when an unexpected target has seen me before I stealth.

Thanks for the help. =3

edit: Also!
Does stealthing while a mage casts its first spell interrupt his casting, if he loses visual lock?

will stealthing now break a hunter pet's attack lock? Will stealthing under the effect of Hunter's Mark render you invisible, even though the mark is there?
At least if they can't see you, they can't actually target and shoot you until you're in visual range...
does Hunter's mark increase the range at which someone can see through stealth?

Last edit:
This is the spec I'm looking at finishing with. This is for general PVE and situational PVP: Battlegrounds, or having to deal with other players in general. thoughts are appreciated. =3

PvP stealth is a 'roll'. Every second, the game rolls the character's level versus your stealth level, modified by distance.

So it varies. Sometimes you'll get lucky and you walk right up to him and whack him with a sap and sometimes people will see you from 6-7 yards away despite having 5/5 MoD + stealth increasing items.

With a 40 level advantage, a level 70 can probably see you from 20 yards if not more however, since the roll is so skewed in his advantage.

Yes.

No. You need to vanish.

You can still stealth (and thus use your stealth moves) but everybody can see you and and attack you right out of it.

Terrible spec imo.

You have a Combat Tree that skips a lot of the key pve talent, yet doesn't take any weapon spec... making it a hodgepodge of pvp/pve that I can't see being very effective.

No opportunity on what seems to be a dagger build (I guess since you have imp ambush) isn't good either and you've put 10 point in improving your stealth... that is a lot. You'll wince everytime you're put out of stealth. :(

In general if you see an enemy ?? your best bet is to keep your distance--way distant. MoD 5/5 gives a 3 level increase to your stealth, so if you're level 30 your stealth "level" will be level 33. If you see a mounted character coming down the road, head for the bushes and keep moving using mouse-look to see if he spotted you. One of my worst pvp episodes was as a 53 in Winterspring, a 60 rogue attacked my while on a mob and low health. I vanished at low health as I was about to die, blinded him, and ran off while his dot finished, then stealthed. But I was too curious! I stayed around to see what he'd do. He somehow spotted me and finished me off :( So, MoD doesn't give you superpowers, just helps :)

Eventually you'll be able to see enemy rogues lower your level as well and that'll give you an idea as to what can see you.

My 68 rogue has 5/5, and it's very helpful in the expansion, where zones have hugely concentrated numbers of players. You mention Ashenvale, which is second to STV in concentration for your level (I think), so you're in a good spot for it. And the pve advantage is always there.

Hunter's Mark on a stealthed rogue applies to the hunter and his party, so even if the hunter is gone someone in his group can see the big red mark.

MoD really shines pvp-wise after you hit the level cap. Before then, every higher-level enemy has the mundane advantage of simply being higher and more able to counter it. When your 70 that'll be removed so your advantage will apply to every opponent. When I did a lot of 60 pvping (when 60 was cap), I could always tell which enemy rogues had MoD and which didn't, it was pretty noticeable.
