Is there any way to track your pet's loyalty level? That is, if you get a new pet, is there a way to know how long until it gets to level 2 and 3 and such?
Unfortunately not.
I have looked heavily into this, even thought about making a addon for it but the only available lua API is GetPetHappiness[] which just tells you if they are happy, content or sad.
I think they should add a bar under the pets XP in the pet section of the character screen to track this!!

I’m all in favor of that!
All I can say from personal experience and from what I’ve read of others posting is that loyalty tends to come more slowly the higher level the pet. So while you may well get your first loyalty point on a level 10 pet within an hour, it may be days before you get your first loyalty point for a level 60 pet. Thankfully growl doesn’t cost any points, so even a brand new pet can still be useful.

I think the loyalty needed for each loyalty level increases in a similar way to the XP needed to level does for the pet.
Also bear in mind that if your pet is at level 70 he will not get XP and hence will not gain loyalty from that XP so it will take far longer!
In practice level 68/69 pets gain loyalty faster than level 70 ones.
