this bummed me way out!!!!!!!!!!!!Follow

I have 366 blacksmithing, and I`m really noticing the lack of gear for a pally, it really bites. I`m looking into changing my blacksmithing for skinning, however, I wear "the breastplate of the kings" and the "khorium set", to switch means I lose my chest plate all together, and I lose my set bonus for the khorium set. That really bummed me way out, once I realized how much monmey and time was waisted on that skill when I could have had all that money for something useful. I mean I want money, but blacksmithing isn`t making me anything, but mining is. So why not add more money to that. I just wanted to warn future pallies that blacksmithing is 95% warrior based and the rest is for both. Some stuff is good for a pally, but the BG stuff is better than most. And WAY easier to get in comparison. What do most of you guys take for skills? Are 2 gathering skills a good idea? let me know what you think.

Hello Im new to WOW,

And I play several toons at the moment. My highest is 29 lvl druid. My pally is 15 and a BS. Is this the general consencus or is it just your oppinion. Im not flaming I just really need to know now so I dont have to drop a tradeskill after investing alot into it. Also, since your not going BS then what tradeskill would you reaply yourself into.

Many thanks.

I`m going to be going skinning... just gonna have mining and skinning..... just to make money for now. I might look into skills at a later date, mabe engineering, or enchanting, not sure yet tho. As far as I know most pallies choose something else as a profession or they just have 2 gathering skills.

huffpl,

I can't say that this is the general concensus but I'm in a similar boat. Thankfully I slacked on my smithing so it's only like 235 but I'm consdering dropping it on my paladin.

Many of the patterns that are actually useful to paladins aren't BoP when made so you can just buy them on the AH for MUCH cheaper than it would take to lvl your smithing to be able to make them.

Now granted this is now. It's possible that Blizzard may add more patterns to the game later that will be paladin-useful and BoP. But there's no telling.

I can't decide what I want my paladin to be. Right now he's just a miner. If I respec I'll probably respec to jewelcrafting which is another huge money sink, but I've found I'm compulsive with my socket items and I have many alts that will soon be getting them.

Course I may just leave it at mining and ignore a second profession entirely (I've no desire to go back to Ellwyn and start skinning boars to lvl up a second gathering prof and my alts alreadly herb, tailor, alch and enchant)

from what ive seen in the month ive been playing WOW. BLizz really doesnt thro the pally many bones. Were like the ******* child of tanding, dmg, and healing. I dont know if blizz will ever give us any usefull bop Bs items. Im trying to deside if i want to keep it for a possible usefullness or dump for something useful now. Im only lvl 15 and not very invested in Bs at the moment. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'm BS/Mining.

Only lvl 44 retadin atm, but really enjoying it.

For me, the whole experience is what matters. This is my fifth toon that will reach lvl 70, and to be honest, I dont have professions for making money. I enjoy the little quirks in the game, and the fact that I can make gear that I actually can use.

I intend to go master hammersmith and craft a Thunder for myself. I most likely wont get that higher, since I intend to use my pallie toon as a pvp toon at lvl 70.

To be honest, I personally believe that for example Thunder is one of the best 2 handers that I will get my mitts on, seeing as I intend to play the toon casually.

I got my smithing up to around the same level - I'd just completed the Thorium Brotherhood quest chain - and I was wondering whether to specialize in armour or weapons. Then I realised that neither were going to be much use to me as a paladin so I dropped smithing and went into jewelcrafting. Best move I ever made!

We're actually quite efficient healers. Paladins can make great tanks though. However, do not join a group with Pally DPS.

Anyway, I am also in this same boat. I don't really see the point into spending all that gold to max out the profession. I will probably drop it soon as well. I will probably start enchanting- time will tell! Although, crafting is considered a money sink.

Well, professions are tricky business.
I like crafting. It gives me a sense of satisfaction that I can make stuff that others will use. On my Hunter, I was Dragonscale Leatherworker. It was great! All the Black Dragonscale gear sold for damn good money in my faction, and all the other sets (well, I kept one Green Dragonscale set for kiting, have you seen the Mana regen on that set?) went on the Neutral AH's after I had advertised on the Server forums.

But I didn't really make all that money. Gathering all those mats were too slow for me, so I bought alot of them. Thus, I spent most of the gold I earned, on the very thing I made. But it gave me a sense of satisfaction. I had turned raw materials into something that Hunter over there was wearing. And being happy for it! He thanked me for taking his gold, and creating armor for him.

Still, on my other toons, I have always gone for two gathering professions lately. It maximizes my income, since I can just sell the mats to people as lazy as me, and when I hit higher levels I can just drop a profession and level a crafting profession fast as hell.

But there is one profession that beats all others. Engineering. It is awesome! A paladin who is an Engineer suddenly got alot more tools! Tossing a Thorium Grenade into the group that is beating on ya just allowed you to toss a Healing Light onto yourself without interruption. That Gnomish Deathray just brought a new meaning to the word "Pally DPS". The tools contained in Engineering are awesome, but expensive.

You will never make money off it. Ever... It is completely useless for making money. But it gives you that edge in both PvE and PvP that no other profession can.

I'm a 375 Armorsmith. You are right, there isn't much for Paladins: that is to say, Holy and Ret Paladins. There's some pretty sweet stuff for a Tank though, even if it is BoE and you can get from someone else ;) Not to mention there's the resist gear which in certain fights is > your regular gear. Guess it's all a matter of preference, but I like my smithing :)

My Paladin is a Miner; I like to see that as my main Profession (though it is a gathering one) because of the variety of uses it gives (mats for jewelcrafting, engineering, blacksmithing and (therefore) a huge moneymaker).

Besidedes that I have viewed the paladins abilities and needs in order to see what crafting Profession I would be of with best. To put it simple:

- a lot of crafted stuff like necklaces, rings/ weapons, armor/ enchants can be done by others by paying a fee, there is often no required level in a craft to use it

- paladins have little ranged attacks, which I found lacking

so I took Engineering. Bombs for ranged, even with Stun capability, nice trinkets for all sort of uses, and it uses mining too, so perfect match there.

I am very happy with this choice and would never switch it out for a crafting profession that I can pay for or another moneymaker, since I dont need it.

Just my opinion, just my 2cc.

you are not considering the future recipes that are not in the game yet. also, items that take BoP mats can be sold for rediculous prices. i used to make Cloak of Shadows on my LW, 2 hours of farming Skin of Shadows(bop) netted me 200-300g profit.

Hmm - amorsmith has always (imho) sucked. Go weaponsmith and maces and fix this baby

Hits like a rock! Retri pallys is suddenly not a joke anymore when they have this! (ohh and it's acutally upgradeable)
