A very important Shaman career choiceFollow

Alright, so I just hit 49, and this is currently my setup http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/#character-sheet.xml?r=Draka&n=Indyxx

Right now I'm doing extremely well at everything, PvE takes about 8 seconds to down something, PvP arena(I haven't lost a single match yet), and in PvP BGs I'm at the top of the list 19/20 times, with the highest overall damage.

My question is should I stay at the 49 bracket and just start a new character as my main? I really like enhancement, and I want to be the same way I am now, but stronger at level 70. Is that even a possibility as of now?

To put this in prospective, in every instance I have ran from 40 to 49 I have been on the top of the DPS charts by quite a bit, with rogues and mages in my group. What would determine my non-viability at level 70, gear or lack of powerful skills? Also, my wep enchants are wf2/wf2 because they proc like crazy with two 2.7 speed weapons. I think there might be a glitch with the cooldown.

If you really love enhancement, stay enhancement..simple as that :)
You can be dps after 60 too, havent tried at 70 as im only 60 now, but most people say enhancement is a viable dps class.

Is there gear at level to support it though? That's one of the biggest issues I have at this point. Right now I'm using stuff from SM that Warrior used. It works great in the 49 bracket, but it's not going to last forever.

Yes theres plenty of mail gear that supports enhancement, you might have to roll against a hunter if hes the same group..but theres plenty of enhancement gear.
And if you are leatherworker, theres alot you can craft too.

I was recently in the 49 pvp bracket with my shaman and I was asking myself some of the same questions you are right now. I was always top few in damage and I was having a great time and I've heard that we're definitely not so dominant in 70 pvp. I was definitely considering just leaving my shammy at 49 and pvping with him, but ultimately, I decided to progress my character instead.

At 70, I plan on respeccing elemental. Right now, I love being enhance, but from what I've read, Elemental is a more viable raid and pvp spec so I've resigned myself to the fact that I will have to respec if I want to be as effective as possible. Like most people have said though, spec how you want. There will always be guilds out there that will let you raid with them no matter what spec you are and pvp will still be fun, as long as you can get in melee range.

Anyways, here's the spec I plan on switching to, roughly.

Thanks Mangus, that was extremely helpful and insightful. I've taken a look at a lot of the higher level hunter gear, and it looks great for enhancement. I think I'm going to leave him in the PvP circuit for a couple of weeks, then start pushing him up again.

I'm a newly 70 enhancement Shaman. I'm just now starting to pick up the Desolation gear set from the 5-mans and think once I get it, it will really help my dps. If your going to stay enhancement when you hit 70 go for gear that is:

1- Attack Power, and lots of it
2- Crit Chance
3- Strength, Stamina
4- Intellect

A lot of the enhancement tree relies on crits so you want as high a crit chance you can get. But you also want to put out descent damage when your not criting that's where the AP comes in. I'm up to just under 1100 AP and I have almost all blues. Once I get the Full Desolation set I should be way higher than that.

As for how high your gonna be on the dps latters. Until you get some good gear and lots of it your not gonna be top spot. I usually finish 2nd in most of the 5-mans that I do. Rogues, Warlocks, and Mages will out dps you most of the time. I'm hoping to start running Kara and get some Epics finally and see if I can take top spot once I get some better gear though.

Can check me out in the Armory if you want "Sercease" on "Korgath".

I just recently went from 49 to 59 with my enhancement shaman. I was usually near the top in damage in BGs and felt like i was quite a force to be reckoned with in terms of how well i could assault and defend. I'd done instances up to my level and had decent gear. Dual weilding.

I really didn't do many instances at all from 49-59 and relied on the few quest rewards as well as some gold spent at auction on good green items. Spent the weekend in BGs. With a new 58dps staff i hit my first windfury crit over 2k (windfuryfu. I think it includes the white hit plus both yellow WF hits). Even better was that it splatted a hunter. Now i see why people loved shaman way back at the beginning in pvp before windfury was toned down since it still leads to some impressive burst damage. Been at or near the top of damage in all games where things are going well and still having a blast as enhancement. Maybe i had good teammates but enchancement pvp is still good at 59. I have no idea about higher though. Gonna stay here and earn some marks for a while.
