Racial bonus when choosing ranged weapons?Follow

#1 May 25 2007 at 12:57 AM Rating: Decent
Can anyone tell me how much difference the racial +5 I have to guns should make to me choosing a gun over a bow?
Obviously if the items are the same DPS/stats I'll go guns but how much better would a bow/crossbow have to be to make it worth while?

From my tainted maths it would only give a 0.2% crit increase and a decrease in enemy chance to block/parry/dodge by 0.2% each.

Any feedback appreciated.

+5 to guns gives you 0.2% crit chance and 0.2% hit chance.
Since ranged attacks cannot be blocked and parried weapon skill is not that important as it might be for other classes.

So basically that 5 points in gun will give me less that 1% dps? (tried working it out but my head hurt)

As long as hit chance gives you any benefits it is a flat increase in DPS.
So you'll do 0.2% more damage.

The crit chance gives you an increase in damage of 0.2% (without mortal shots) and 0.26% with mortal shots.
Since you do not have mortal shots, +5 gun skill will increase your total damage by 0.4%.
This is not so shabby as it sounds (as most gear upgrades might give you less increase in total damage), but guns are not that much better than bows and crosbows for us dwarfs *g*.

Thanks Mulgrin, it's a bit clearer now.

I'll stick with my [wowitem=13040]Heartseeking Crossbow[/wowitem] =]
