I have a carrion bird. Gonna respec now that the new talents are here, so I was wondering what would be my best bet.

I was thinking screech, bite, the 2 new ones, and the rest of the points between stamina and armor.

Any other ideas? Should I get claw? Should I get claw over bite? There's also dive, which would save time, but costs a lot of energy and points to learn it.

Which do you think is better, armor or stamina?

I'm a 61 BM hunter btw. Thanks.

Edit: and of course I'll get growl.

Okay...you obviously need growl. I wouldn't get claw and screech, but that's just me. I'd go growl - screech - bite - dive. Dive is a staple you shouldn't be without it IMO (or dash/warp/charge etc).

Then, it's up to you on the stamina. If you get a lot of stamina, it'll offset all types of damage. If you get armor, you need higher resistances to offset those too. More mitigation means easier healing, but the bigger health pool makes it take less TP. I'd go with armor, but that's a preference.

Well yeah, I didn't include growl since that's a given. Of course I need growl. Thanks for the advice.

I prefer putting most of my Def points on my pet into Armor.

The way it was explained to me is that Stamina was nice when fighting caster mobs (in addition to the resists) since spells bypass Armor. Nat Armor is better for Melee mobs as then the armor has better effect.

Now with Avoidance I think it makes Armor even better since fewer benefits will be seen from the HP.

Also Cobra Speed is VERY nice.

Here is how my cat is set up at 62
--- Growl 8
--- Bite 8
--- Dash 3
--- Prowl 3
--- Nat Arm 10(?)
--- Avoidance 2
--- Cobra Speed 1
--- Nature Res 2
--- Shadow Res 2

I know Dash, and Prowl are somewhat controversial, but they match my 62 BM Night Elf's play style very well. I mean ... what good is feign death if you don't get to use it occasionally ;)

I like natural armor more then stamina, that's just a preference.

any recommendations on how much resistance a pet should have if they have natural armor?

What types of resistance are better or what type of damage do you come across more?

I did Nature, and Shadow

Most of the AOE spells that I have seen out there are Fire/Ice based. That means Avoidance will kick in more often for that damage type, and so Resistances toward those 2 will be less important.

Nature covers poisons, and Shadow is mostly single target (as far as I have seen).

Keep in mind I am mostly PvE with some light PvP.

Thanks for the replies. I went max armor, screech, growl, bite, cobra reflexes, and the avoidance. I'll look into resists later, when I get more points and have fewer other skills to upgrade.
