Ambush Vs. High-Level GarroteFollow

I'm sure you all know that Garrote at lv 60+ silences the enemy for 3 sec. along with the DOT.

At lv 60+, what would be more preferable against clothies: Ambush or Garrote? In other words, a huge damage spike or a slow damage over time and a long silence? Obviously, you'll be using Garrote if you're using anything but daggers, but what if you're using daggers?

Against Mages, they won't be able to blink after the initial Garrote. Say bye to Frost Nova too. Against casters in general, you can perform a "silence lock" of sorts, although it's a very situational one.

Garrote>Imp. Kick>Arcane Torrent (Blood Elf Racial)>Cloak of Shadows (for near spell immunity after the "spellock")

Or if you're not a Blood Elf with Imp. Kick, you can try this if you're Sub specced:
Premed>Shadowstep>Garrote>Backstab/Hemo/SS>Rupture

(Thanks to Sensou on the Wowhead Garrote comments for the above combos)

Positive feedback=appreciated.

in theory this would work but from my experince not so much. sure the garrote silences them but most mages use ice armor in pvp and usless you use get crip poison on them right away they can just walk away from you and wait for the silence to expire and then frost nova or blink. maybe if you used shiv as ur first non-stealth attack with crip on offhand it would work but i'v never tried it myself. usually what I do in BGs is wait tell you see a mage attacking someone else and garrote them as there casting, this work great with a warrior because you can give them time to charge and hamstring the mage. teaming with any class with a slowing effect is great for a rogue in BGs but if your looking to solo in BGs I would stick with ambush as your opener if you have imp sprint and they frost nova blink just hit sprint gouge and backstab them, i found this to work when i was spec daggers. just play around with it and find whats best for you but if you find something that works for you let me know. good luck with the pvp.

The increased damage of Ambush on a clothie is a great thing, I tell you.

You can take down most clothies faster than they can even realize wtf is going on.

If you have pre-med, you can Ambush, have 4 combo points, and throw in a quick Kidney Shot if you're feeling especially evil, and backstab crit them, if that's how you're specced.

I'll usually just do the Ambush Crit along with Pre-Med and have my 4 combo points, do a quick Hemo for 5 pts, and then Evisc Crit them for the win.

:D
