I just dinged lv 61 last night, 5 away fromt he beloved Kill Command ability. I was wondering a few things, after reading the update patch stuff.

1) If it is available after a crit hit (ranged) why not just make it a passive ability? Now, if I read right, they took out the cool down timer on it? Why make us clicky every time we crit. With a whooping 12% crit rate + talents, my finger is going to fall off =P

2) How come so late in the game? Oh the 10-65 levels would have been much nicer with that, and not to mention it's a talent on tier 2 for our BM tree. Little did I know 65 levels later that talent(s) will actually do more than give me 2% attack power.

Meh, just some questions I had on it, I can't wait to get it, Oh the damage my little boar will do.

Gives you something to level for? Maybe, and yes any hunters finger is going to explode.

Kill command is actually pretty decent with a DPS pet for the amount of mana it costs. For a measly 75 mana, you essentially get the equivalent of an arcane shot on a mob. I think the damage is a little lacking, I'd prefer to see it cost way more, but do way more damage. But hey, for under 100 mana it's pretty decent

Regular hit - around 350 (pet level 67)
Crits - around 550
Best crit - 900+

Point, Set, Match. Thanks for that one, I totally overlooked that it requires mana for w/e reason (*cough*stayed up till 3:00 a.m. playing, work at 7:00*cough*)

Yeah, I'm whooped today.

When I first read about the Kill Command I thought it was for the pet. I didn't realize it was a hotkey I had to press myself after a Crit. Needless to say, I fell in love with the ability as soon as I got it though. The added damage counts toward aggro for your pet, and it doesn't take up any of their focus (energy) at all. It only takes a small amount of mana from you instead.

With full sunders on I've easily had my pet crit for up to 1200+ if not more with Kill Command.

I would have loved to have this command earlier. Perhaps different ranks of it. Obviously at level 66 it will add an additional 127 damage to your pet's normal damage, but early on perhaps they could have added it around lvl 15 or 20 to add maybe 20 damage. Then again at lvl 30 to add 40 damage, and so on until they reach lvl 66 or so.

My only problem sometimes is remembering to press it. I'm not sure if it's part of Blizzard's UI or my own, but a giant message saying "KILL COMMAND" will pop up on my screen after I crit, telling me to press the button basically. Well it doesn't always pop up and sometimes when it does, I can't exactly press it cause I might be running, or kiting at the time ;)

Just make sure your pet is always within range and you're fine. Great addition for us hunters though, just wish we would have had this sooner.

Aside from the mana cost (which some hunters might want to avoid), it is also a high aggro ability. There are some situations where you wouldn't want to do that.

Something to look forward to, and a bonus for the hunters in BC.

As for damage, that actually gets to be very impressive for only 75 mana. I regularly get 1000-1200 on crits. More important than the damage, though, Kill Command is a perfect counter, aggro-wise, for your own crits.

The only complication is that instead of just giving the pet the extra attack, it tries to make the pet attack your current target. This complicated the ability to attack in two locations at once... but there's a macro to fix that.

Ah I guess that's true, but if I crit it'll do more than the damage Kill Command does lol I'd be more worried about me taking hate from the tank then my commanded pet =P

I'm sure it works nicely when you crit just solo'n but with a good tank would it really take that much aggro from him?

When I was BM I loved this ability. I still do, mind you, but it works out so nicely if you have 5 points in that talent that improves the crit chance for kill command.

You crit and gain aggro. Cast KC and pet has a large chance to crit and regain all aggro. And with Beastial Wrath on your pet can crit for a very large amount. All for the low low cost of 75 mana!! Doesn't get any better than that.

The aggro gain doesn't really look to be based on the damage, though. KC seems to generate lots of hate, even on a non-crit.

Ah so like Intimadate then, that makes sense then.

Not as much, obviously, but more than the damage alone should do.

My new macro...I use it both as an opener and I spam after every autoshot:

/cast Blood Fury
/cast Furious Howl
/cast Kill Command
/cast Steady Shot

Also I think maybe Blizz wanted to give hunters a reactive ability much like the warrior's overpower or the rogue's riposte.
The reason it isnt passive is the same reason that these aren't passive, you might not have enough mana/rage/energy for something else you wanted to do.
If Blizz made all these passive and dropped them to 0 mana/rage/enery i'd be happy too. :P

Sadly, this skill still isn't worth using for a non Beast Master. I've yet to see it wrest aggro back to the pet, and it's single biggest limitation still hasn't really been fixed since it can't be used in the middle of a steady shot.

For PvE, the kill command really does come in handy.

When the pet gets off a crit when you fire the command though... this is where it shines in PvP. A 900+ crit from me added to a 1200+ crit from the pet after the kill command = squishy cloth wearer just seconds away from watching the remainder of the arena match as a ghost.

And with a crit % of just about 14, I reach for the kill command key quite often.
