kiting is usualy done by frost mage by using rank 1 frostbolt and than firing a regular frostbolt once they get stuck in frostbite thats how i usually do it i defeated a level 63 warrior doing this he flipped out.

Just curious. Aside from the obvious savings in mana, why use rank 1 Frostbolt? Wouldn't it be better to simply use the highest rank of frostbolt available?

The other reason, would be that its casting time is much quicker than high ranking ones. For example: when you get the talent to reduce casting time on frostbolt, (Frostbolt Rank 1) would only take 1 second, (may be wrong on the actual casting time)

You're correct, the Rank 1 Frostbolt is a 1 second cast time and that's the main reason it's used...

When I'm kiting, I use the FB to keep the mob slowed, then I usually use Ice Lance for several shots then hit them again with the FB... rinse and repeat.

I would use rank 1 frostbolts when, say, kiting a very high level dude to Stormwind... (but I wouldn't do that, would I? No... I would only dream of such things).

Also very effective on warriors in duels.
