Respeccing at level 54?Follow

Ok, I KNOW that this forum is full of "suggest a build" posts, but after trawling through a lot of them I am still a little confused with regards to my problem, so I felt the need to post this and get opinions.

Ok, here's the deal. I faithfully specced full demonology (you can see my current build in the armory link from my signature) up to lvl 50 because I wanted the Felguard. But now that I have it, I think that either it doesn't match up to my playstyle or else it just isn't all it's meant to be. I am now thinking of respeccing and putting my majority into Affliction as I rely much on my dots and curses (I realise this might mean a change of gear :P). I don't really want to go into Destruction apart from maybe just a few points for improved shadowbolt, since I really prefer to dot and wand my targets.

I still want a minion capable of holding aggro since this is really my main reason for switching from my original mage to my lock. On this account my Felguard is doing great, but I did have a faithful companion for this in my VW, I am a little worried that loosing all the extra buffs to him (I guess I would spec down to improved VW though) and with my added damage output it would be harder to keep aggro off myself.

I guess what I really want to know is if there's any use respeccing now or if I should just wait till somewhere in 60 - 70 when I will do more PvP and Instancing, which I am thinking will render the demonology tree pretty useless for me.

I am also thinking about if it would be viable to spec about halfway intio both affliction and demonology to keep some of the nice buffs and still get extra damage. I guess I would be looking towards something like this by 70:

I don't really know... I am hoping there was enough of an explanation of my playstyle (I guess it would be drain hunter without the actual proper spec for it) for someone else to have some thoughts.

Also, any advice on particular pieces of equipment I should be looking out for to help me - I know what I have now probably isn't ideal but when I hit 50 it was all I could afford... hehe.

If I do respec, I am thinking I should go into affliction far enough to get Dark Pact - but will the improved VW actually be needed for him to be at least a half-good tank for me?

Hmmm... might have been a lot of questions... as you can see I am afraid that my previous tactics are a little outdated at my lvl and would love some advice and help specific for how I play - since a lot of the options seem possible for me to learn...
