Need some help with Pvp stuffFollow

#1 May 20 2007 at 5:25 PM Rating: Decent
Ok Im now in the process of trying to become a better pvp hunter. and im also trying to be proactive about my current problem.

First off im horde.. i guess thats useful info

So i will say what problems i have that i would love some tips on. and if you would give me some tips please that would rock.

First and foremost: I guess my main issue is stealth opponents getting the jump on me.

Some of the actions i have taken to avoid this are always turning on track hidden and trapping behind me.. and also flairing whenever i can.

But for some reason.. even when i have all that.. and am standing in the middle of my flair. I will get stunlocked by an invisible rouge That i will only see when he hits me with stun. (im lvl 67 they are 70)

This also happens allot with druids in stealth mode and with paladins in stealth mode.

So are there any tips for detecting them a lil further away? because as it is right now i wont see them till its to late.

Also... I hear alot of hunters saying that they beat rouges most of the time. and that they can get out of a rouges stunlock withought with ease. I would really apreciate some tips on how this is done.

Finally I would like to know how to better improve myself as a hunter. so any tips are great.. thanks.

the first step to becoming a better player is to learn to spell "rogue".

If you're in the middle of it a Rogue can stand just outside the AoE of it and stunlock you... as you found out. =P Try standing on the front edge of it.

Also, have your pet on agressive. It only takes that 1 stealth sound to force him out of stealth with your pet. I've seen ppl use Imm. traps to bring them down faster, I like the freeze trap route, but meh w/e works. I'm sure Imm. traps work nice with scatter shot, or Wing Clip and run.

If you get stuned, if you have intimadate try that? I only PvP with my MM spec so I'm not sure. Worst case, drop a freeze trap, and bandage fast! Yes, "it's cheating", so is twinking, but who cares lol.

Distance, keep as much as possible. Wing clip while running thru them is one of my fav. moves. This gives you a second headstart on them since they have to turn around and walk after you.

Past 30? they can detect your trap, and difuse it. So I really tend to wait until they pop up to drop it.

well i'm a hunter also and i'm actually really good at pvp the trick to taking down a rogue is to yes have your pet on aggressive and to always be moving don't drop alot of flares because it gives away your position try to stay in high places where if the rogue does get you other people can hopefully see,

lets say your in arathi basin at one of the three hot spots defending(blacksmith, gold mine, and lumbermill)always keep your back to one of the of the flags your faction controls and drop a trap at the end of one of the path that your enemy would most likely be coming that usually gives you a good head start on them with a concussion shot, this can and should be applied to any BG your in.

the track hidden ability is ok but usually when it does finally pick up on the invisible people its to late

one last tip i can offer you if you don't fill like moving around alot is to drop a flare stand on the rim like the other guy posted and then drop a frost trap and stand either on it or at the edge and face towards the flare, this is because the rogue knowing what the flare does will try to avoid it 100% and try to come up from behind you and since your standing on your trap they can't really see it so they'll think free kill attack you'll get stunned but they'll get frozen and by the time they're unfrozed you are well enough away to gank em

hope this helps

A few things to consider:

- If your latency is higher than the rogue there may be almost nothing you can do to avoid the initial stun
- Resilience will help to withstand the initial onslaught - you will be crit less - start collecting Resilience gear like Allerian Stronghold gear for handing in Soulshards from Auchindoun instances
- High Stamina also helps you out-last the rogue or last long enough to break the stun lock - try Sta enchants rather than AP on your PVP gear
- Always have your PVP trinket equipped but don't use it straight away
- Always have Monkey on unless you are 100% sure you can attack from range safely
- Always have pet on aggressive - remember to switch to passive if you are dotted and rogue is frozen
- If it doesn't gimp your PVE, spec into some Survival talents
- Get a PVP buddy, Pallies are great

Cheers,

Thanks for the great tips.. I never knew aspect of the monkey kicked so much ***.

Long story short i was in haala and had an encounter with a rouge. This time however i frost traped behind me and flared in front of me.. sure as sh*t the rouge caught the outside of my flair and i saw him..

He thought he had avoided the flair but didnt.. next he tried to gank me from behind.. well that did not work to well as he was instantly frozen.

I backed up and threw aspect of the hawk, trueshot, and my +120 to attack power trinket up.. then took my time with a nice aimed shot. followed by a sweet arcane shot.

By the time the first aimed shot hit him.. so did my pet.. then the arcane shot hit.. both crits

lol a lvl 67 hunter pretty much 3 shots a lvl 70 rouge.. who woulda thunk.

im much more happy now

Grats OP! As much as I hate PvP servers, it was always nice to drop a vanish when a potential ganker came along then owned him. So I know how ye feel.

Hitting the pet attack button can sometimes make your pet go for a stealthy Rogue I've found.

Also running at top speed can be annoying for rogues as they will have to blow a sprint to catch up with you (plus if your in your cheetah aspect they'll have to break stealth to catch up anyway).
