Without seeming to flippant, isn't 70 a little late to be wondering about your build? It would be one thing if you wanted to totally tear down whatever build you are and try something else (e.g. you've always been BM and want to try Survival).

I would think that if you've made it to 70, whatever build you've got is "working" just fine. Your post was a tad generic and totally bereft of any idea of what you're looking for in a build. "Best" is subjective and therefore unhelpful.

As much as this thread makes me want to be a prick, I will refrain and try to provide you with some decent advice.

I couldn't agree with this more. The topic itself makes me wonder if you wasted your money getting this toon powerleveled. It's your money to spend however you want so whatever if you did but PL deprives you of all opportunity to learn a class.

That being said, and assuming that you leveled this toon all by yourself, what is your current build? gear? play style? Do you like the idea of your pet being a big red beast consuming all in it's path? Do you want to see 3,000+ crits? Honestly by now you should have a good idea of what works for you and what you like.

You say you have an interest in both PvP and instances. Well....to be honest you're "ideal" build will be quite different in each case. Personally I run a lot of instances and am finally starting Kara this week or the next. I run in [link=http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/hunter/talents.html?0000000000000000000000555001005013243105102303022302300000000000] this [/ link] spec and it works great for me personally. The trap talents make a huge difference in my experience, some people may say that traps dont get resisted enough or they dont end too early often enough to worry about it but as I said, I run a lot and it makes a noticeable difference. The dps from this or a similar MM build is quite top notch. AoE still sucks, and probably always will for us, but against a single target and with a good shot rotation you can put up some massive numbers. As an example, I calculated my dps in a Black Morass run once using Titan panels timer and the damage meter. In 29 minutes and some change I put out a little over 600k damage. It ultimately calculated to 347 dps over the whole span, including the time we spent waiting for portals to open and after boss fights. I just don't see very many players finding any complaint in that.

Full beast spec can be quite viable in instances as your pet does more than enough extra dps to make up for anything you lack not being MM. It also can serve as a *decent* off-tank when its absolutely necessary but don't rely on it, Your pet will never have enough hit points to tank instances, period. Unless your healer spam heals your pet it will go down rather quickly despite having, iirc, around 13k armor. Intimidation can be useful, unless your tank sucks it won't pull aggro and the 3 or sec stun is good for interrupting casters, giving the healer some extra time for a big heal if tanks hp get down too far, or saving the healers butt if they pull aggro and the tanks needs a few seconds to get it back. Overall it has it's uses and isn't bad, but AoE mobs can ruin your dps contribution. Some healers will take the time to save your pet, some won't, and if you have to stop dps and Mend Pet, it's just as bad as letting him/her die. When your pet goes down, your dps just flat out sucks.

I have heard some good things about Survival spec but really don't have any personal experience with it. Wyvern Sting seems like a nice CC addition, gives you the ability to CC 2 mobs at once, 3 if you're good (2x freeze traps, has to be timed well tho) The extra hp's, dodge, damage reduction, etc make you last longer if things get rough, but really they pretty much get wasted in a good group. I'll let someone with more experience give you some ups and downs about Survival.

For PvP, lots of stam and +crit gear of course, for a spec I would think a more hybrid approach probably works well. I've never spec'd specifically for PvP, but I would think the hp boost from BM, imp conc shot, the crit damage multiplier and most of the beginning of the Survival tree are pretty standard. Again I'll let someone with personal experience in a pure PvP build to give you some pointers. I just put on some of the pvp set gear to raise my crit and act like I'm trying to pull aggro.

*Edit*
Ok so I have no idea how to post a proper link, clearly, and the "Site FAQ" obviously doesn't work very well either, but you get the idea.

For instances, marksman build is fine. I have found though, that Intimidation often helps in keeping targets away from your healers and other clothies.

For pvp BG, marksman or beast is fine. Some even say survival, because you’ll be in close combat more often than you want to be. While in group pvp, you should be behind the lines, often the squishy target you want is also behind the enemy lines. Squishy because you can hurt him faster but also because while he stays alive, he’s either nuking or healing his front line, so you, with the ranged attack, have a chance to take him out, or at least, make him worry. Unfortunately this often means you have to be right up in the front of your line, where suddenly every one will target you.

I say this because while you might be happy to stand back and attack the enemy warrior that you can reach in your range, watching his HP go back to full from the healer that no one else is attack is quite frustrating.

From my experience, survival is more of the elitist spec. You gotta have the right gear, and you REALLY gotta know your class. So, assuming the OP PL'd, I'll asume SV is NOT for him.

That being said, go marksman. Simply b/c most of the talents in there are pretty good, and if you're in PvP or in groups your pet wont matter as much.

As far as gear goes, stamina, intellect, agility, crit, MP/5, AP. Look in my sig for details.
