Tanked Shattered Halls Last NightFollow

Semi-pugged a group for SH last night. Three of the group had at least 1 more 70 character, 2 of which were also paladins. I say semi-pugged because we had ganged up on the elite quests out in SMV earlier and on of our group was a guildy. After those quests were done we decided to go do SH. Our party consisted of myself (prot pally), a hunter, mage, rogue, and a 67/68 holy priest. I was feeling pretty strong about it, confidence was high. The first hallway was cake, I chain pulled all the way to the end of it since the mobs were nicely staggered out. Everyone had plenty of mana and I was still topped off, so I felt pretty good. One guy even asked, "Wow, did you mean to chain pull like that?" FANCY! Everything was great, really, until I had a bad pull at one point and killed us all. Then I Avenger's Shielded a sap, and wiped us. The sap was resisted once, wiped us. Had a near wipe on one of the big pulls, but I DI'd the priest who had run out of mana. Saved some running. Did pretty well for a bit. Then one of the rogues sapped me and smoked the priest. Our rogue laid into him, and since I can't do any real damage, I just tried to heal him. Worked pretty well, until a pat walked up behind us. *sigh* Yet, we made it through that. We finally made it to the last boss. Just couldn't pull it off. He killed us a few times and everyone's stuff was broken. I couldn't figure out anything different to do. The adds were coming from behind me and walking through the consecration to get to the priest. I tried to taunt them off, but it was no use. I felt pretty helpless to be honest. I read up on a strategy that would have probably worked, but I don't know if I have the stuff to pull it off. I asked one of the other guys with a prot pally if he could see anything I was doing wrong/could do differently, but he couldn't think of anything. I did feel a little better to find out that they had been in there quite a number of times and had never finished. I think the highest level dungeon I have completed was Botanica. Anyone have any pointers?

Never been to this instance but here are some ideas

I assume the boss spawns adds...if they are Meele try having your priest standing inside your consecration

Blessing of Salvation on the priest ofc

Maybe try Concentration Aura, 70%+35% =105% chance for the priest not to lose casting when hit, might help the priests survivability a little

Assign a person/people to clear up the adds (I've never been so this might be completely the wrong thing to do)

all I can think of from the top of my head

Ive done SH with my 70 hunter probably 10 times have never finished with a warior or druid tank but finished with a pally tank every time, I cant really give any advice about pulling the instance we just let the pally pull with avengers sheild with very little cc worked every time. For the end boss we had my slef and mage on the adds went down quick, then focused on boss untill the next add came. takes longer to kill the boss but it has worked for me a couple of times. hoped this helped and good luck

Have your healer in a corner on the opposite side of where you enter Bladefist's little 'arena'. Tank Bladefist in the center and have one of your DPS (preferrably a Rogue or Shaman) take out the adds as they come in while your other DPS stays on Bladefist and burns him down. You shouldn't try to tank more then just the boss unless absolutely necessary. Staying spread out helps 1) to keep his dance from hitting multiple targets at once and 2) makes it easier to see where the adds are at and who they are going for so you can control them as needed. Hope that helps a bit :)

This is pretty spot on for tactics. The adds will continually come in through the "arena" entrance, so having dedicated DPS to burn them down is pretty essential. Place your healer in the far corner at max range and the ranged DPS (hunter, mage, etc) opposite side, but keep in mind that at some point Bladefist will charge/cleave everyone. The adds should be tauntable, so if one breaks off from the DPS to go after the healer, they can be pulled back. For the most part, Froggy, it sounds like you're doing everything right and it's simply an add issue. If you get too many, they can be a serious pain. Control them and the fight gets a lot easier. Hope you downed him!

Well, I made it through this weekend, barely though. It was a problem with the adds brfore. We had a hunter this time and he took the adds on the steps to the arena. Oour healer was, believe it or not, an enhancement shammy. We got Bladefist down, but at some point had pulled a couple of assassins. The only 2 left were me and the mage, and we were pretty much oom. We died, but that run back in wasn't so bad! Thanks for the info folks.

Also managed to get my heroic key from HH last night. Woot!

I've run SH a dozen times with mostly the same group Warrior Tank, Healer Druid, Shadow Priest, Rogue, and Mage. This can be done with any standard type group (tank, healer, 3x DPS). Our first couple of runs were rough but now that we have the strategy down for the final boss we smack him down every time.

Our strategy is having everyone but the tank stay on the second stair step as you enter the arena. Tank focuses on boss and ignores all else. Healer heals. Shadow priest DPS on boss. Rogue and mage on add patrol.

This is a long slow careful fight. Our healer often can burn 2 mana pots during this fight, but with adds quickly going down we have plenty of time to work on the boss. Most of the Warchief’s damage will be concentrated on the tank.. The Warchief will spin into the stairs and do some damage but most of his damage will be back in the arena on the tank. Healers can take care of this damage. We found when the boss gets under 20% we just switch to full out DPS and he goes down. Any remaining adds go away when he dies.
