I know everyone says Imp stings is a waste, for various reasons...
A) Stings dont do enough DPS anyway
B) Stings will override traps or other forms of CC
C) Stings will just get dispelled in PvP

But, imp stings DOES give a 30% chance that your stings will not be dispelled. If my assumed algorithm is right, that would lower it from a 95% chance to dispell to a 65% chance, in other words instead of 1/20 staying on, 1/3 will. That will burn through GCD's like crazy (while auto-shot still DPS's). So I was just wondering why everyone is anti imp stings.

Mainly due to the fact that every sting you have is on an instant cooldown, aside from Viper and Wyvern Sting. Now for Wyvern Sting this may prove to be more useful in pvp situations, especially arena's. But you have to consider what you would be giving up in order to get this talent.

If you pvp all the time, and it's all you do, sure this talent would probably benefit you a little more. But if you plan on raiding or going to instances, I don't see how this could help.

30% Extra damage on Serpent Sting Rank 10 brings it up to a 865 Dot now.

30% Extra damage on Wyvern Sting Rank 4 brings it up to a 1224 Dot now.

Sure that's another 865 or 1224 damage you don't have to do, but wouldn't your immolation trap achieve the same effect? Immolation Trap Rank 6 does 985 damage over time, or with Clever Traps it can do up to 1280 damage. Granted in pve situations you probably won't be using this trap nearly as much as your Freezing Trap, but you won't be using Serpent Sting either, and Wyvern Sting is mostly there for CC.

Assuming you're going for a 0 / 21 / 40 Build, would you really want to give up Mortal Shots for Imp. Stings? If you're going full MM then sure, expirement a little, but just looking at the options and how often I use my stings (aside from Scorpid in PVE and the occasional Viper in pvp, or Serpent against rogues), I just see better places to place those 5 points.

Just my 2 cents~

Oh okay...so it's not so much that it sucks but more that it's just not as good as the rest?

Well I believe you can get inproved stings from your trainer anyways without actually using talent points to improve ... Am I wrong ? I mean I have serpent sting 6 or 7 so ,,, isn't that an improvement in itself ?

What skribs is referring to is the actual talent located in the Marksman tree. With 5 points invested into this talent, it improves the damage done by your Serpent Sting and Wyvern Sting by 30%, the mana drained from Viper Sting by 30%, and reduces the chance to dispel all of your stings by 30%.

dfexpc what you are referring to are simply the ranks of each sting. Two completely different things ;)

To follow up with Skribs follow up question, it really depends on your playstyle. As I mentioned in my previous post, if you pvp all the time, this talent may prove to be more useful for you. But again you have to look at what you would be giving up in order to get the full 5 talent points into this talent. I personally feel that the points would be better invested into other talents, but again that's my preference and playstyle.

I personally don't use my stings enough to warrant investing into this talent over let's say Mortal Shots, Barrage, or even Careful Aim. I find those talents to be much more rewarding for my playstyle.

for grinding, I'd never get it; However, you bring up a very valid point for if I ever decide to go Survival for Arenas when I never get to level 70.

only having a 1/3 chance of dispelling wyvern sting is pretty hawt- especially if you're taking out the healer.

When I was full MM I specced into imp stings. I found I just didn't use them that often. Now that I've respecced SV/MM, I find I don't want to waste points there regardless of the imp to wyvern. I'd much rather have 5/5 in mortal shots. As the others have said it's about your playstyle. I don't pvp unless required by a quest so it's of little importance to me.
