Why is my crit going down?Follow

Hi All,

I'm sure that somewhere this must have been already answered but I've not found it. Why are my stats bonuses going down as I level up? Let me explain this better, by stat bonuses I mean as an example agility (stat) offer +crit chance (bonus) and +armor (bonus). I looked at my old stats from when I was lvl40 and I had 119 agil which gave me 23.26% crit chance. Now I'm lvl44 with 166 agil and only a 23.13% chance. I have also noticed that my armor (in non feral state) was 1352 which gave me 26.24% physical reduction and now I have 1426 and only 25.62% reduction.

Both of these should have nothing to do with weapon skill or defense as my defense is maxed out and weapon skill doesn't affect feral crit chance.

Anyone know how the level maths work to reduce this stuff?

crit chance: as you lvl up, you need more agility to generate a 1% crit chance. So if your eq stays the same and you gain one level, your crit % goes down.

armor: the damage reduction formula depends on the level of your opponent, and basically the damage reduction is inversely linked to the lvl of your opponent (i.e. less damage mitigation against higher lvl opponents). The level of your opponent is estimated as equal to yours in the formula. So again, if your eq stays the same and you go up one lvl, with the same armor the damage reduction will go down (because the game estimates that you are now facing tougher opponents).

The agility/crit mechanic seems a bit strange, but it is necessary. If Blizzard didn't reduce reduce the crit/agility, then we would have 2 options. (1) Give us decent crit at lower levels, then, as gear improved, our crit rates would have to go through the roof and would stuff the game. (2) Give us almost no crit at early levels so that the end game is still fairly balanced.

The system they have works quite well. When you level, you will lose a little bit of crit, but hopefully you upgrade your gear and end up with slightly higher crit than you had before.
