for those of you who dont know what the gladiator set is. Was wondering if this is one of the best sets to start on for me being a lvl 52 hunter. I want to get in Outland ASAP. I looked at drop rate of these pieces and it appears to be easily do-able. Does anyone have advice for me?

yeah, skip it.
outlands lvl 58 Quest rewards are way better.
and easier to get too.

edit: and besides that, the helm is the only half decent piece in there too. the rest is crap anyway.

i didnt upgrade my gear from lvl 52-53 till 57.
at that point, i bought 2 greens (green boots and legs of the bandit)
was enough for me.
the only blues i had were the T0 belt, some random cape (not that good) and the lvl 51 blue crossbow.
i survived without any trouble from 56-58 and further.

Yeah, as soon as you hit 58, go to the AH and pick out a few reasonably priced greenie upgrades. Then you hit Outlands and replace the rest fast as hell. Don't spend overly much time nor effort upgrading your kit until then.

within a couple of hours of being in Outlands, you replace your melee weapon, belt, and a few other things. you also get a quest for a blue chest piece that you can start wearing at level 60.

I really didn't have the best gear in the world when I went to the Outlands at 58. I had mostly greens, and I was still wearing Elven Chain boots. I just had all falcon and monkey stuff. I did okay.

Just upgrade to “of the monkey” gear if you want it, and then get to 58. after that, follow what the others said.

Also get a better gun/bow. That’ll make quite a difference in how fast you can kill if your current weapon is particularly getting close to being outdated. For a melee weapon, go to AV and get the ice-blood spear. For a ranged gun weapon, I recall the thorium rifle or purple dwarven hand cannon rifle work fine.

I did notice that for most classes I played, lvl 50 was a point where I actually felt like I needed to get gear from AH to take out the mobs. Prior to that, I could make do with any quest rewards or drops on many chars.

Let’s just say the level 60 blue hunter gear (beastmaster set) gets outdated fast in outlands also, so the level 52 stuff would not even be worth the effort to try to get.

At 58 the fights will be a bit tough for you, but you should be able to handle them. I prefer to wait until 60 to really quest in Outland. There are a ton of quests to do in Azeroth to get to 60. I’d rather save the Outland xp for my 60 to 70 run. But I do like to head to Outland to get the crossbow upgrade.

There are two quests you can do at the same time as soon as you get to Outland. One involves killing the red orcs. On the alliance side I think it’s a kill X number of them. On the horde side you have to collect X number of blood samples. That quest will get you a nice crossbow.

The other quest has you collect wood and metal scraps. I believe this quest will get you a nice helm. Ugly graphic, but nice stats. Since the wood and metal scraps spawn around the orcs you are killing you may as well do both of these at the same time.

Once I do those I head back to Azeroth until I hit 60 and then the Outland quests are much easier to manage.

My blood elf hunter had gear ranging from mid 50 quest rewards to level 40 bracers and he managed just fine. Just be very aware of your surroundings. In addition to standard adds watch for the rumbling piles of earth as worms will attack from them. And watch for the giant, wondering fel reaver that will squash you like a bug.

I waited till I hit 60 to head to Outland. You don't have to though. You will get some excellent gear in Outland. Get anything that will increase your agility and attack power. If you do buy at the AH. Get "bandit" gear. Can't go wrong with that for a Hunter. Have fun.

i went to Outlands at 56 and i never had a problem.
(gear was nice, not great but pretty good) the only time i got in trouble was when fighting multiple of the high attack low defense demons or when i was fighting lvl 60+ mobs.
and for questing, there are enough quests in outlands to do 58-70 twice.
i am at lvl 70, and still have to do most of Shadowmoon valley, terokkar forest, blade's edge mountains, half of netherstorm and a lot of quests in hellfire, nagrand and zangarmarsh i missed on the way.

I went to Outlands (via port) at 56 and did the piggie grind outside of Honor Hold until I hit 58 with no problems (plus I scored a lot of knothide as well). If you want to wait till you 60 for Outlands, that's cool, but I really enjoyed the sweet xp and the kick *** landscape. At 58 I went back out through the front door and got the first quest and just pretended I was new to the place and started questing my butt off. I loves me some Outlands!

First, Sorry for stupid question but what does FTFY mean. Never seen it before.
2ndly I was in outland and killed a fell guard i think it was( Lvl 59 mob with Fell guard model) and only got 434 exp. I get around 1034 exp off the elite dragonkin in Burning Steppes. I am not sure that it makes a lot of difference. But even the non elite mobs in Burning steppes were giving me the same exp as the fell guard mob when it was yellow to me. I thought you got more exp for killing red mobs than if you killed the same mob when it was yellow or green.
