Hi All,

Very quick and simple question, Can you program the escape key into a macro? I was thinking about it and for PvP this would be a killer as we can program in:

Escape -- to exit fight
Stealth -- to stealth (duh!!)
Pounce -- To give us a nice few seconds of hardcore DPS.

Thanks all.

No, no, no.
Esc alone does not let you get out of combat.

Esc will only drop your current target. So if you were on auto-attack, you'll drop attacking and if that which you were attacking isn't attacking you, you will drop from combat after a few seconds. (5 seconds? Can't recall)

Some time ago a macro was posted that would do something like:
-Maim once you're at 5 CP's.
-Drop target, or at least stop attacking.
-Spam key until you drop out of combat, at which point the macro will stealth you.

Problem with the macro you want is that it's too situational. You need to not be attacked by anyone for 5 seconds but have no means to guarantee that.

What I would suggest is to create a macro that would do the following:
-If stealthed, do nothing.
-If not stealthed, stealth.

So you could press Esc manually to drop your target and then spam that macro until you become stealthed.

The advantage of such a macro over using your Prowl hotkey if that you can spam it without accidentally going in stealth and immediately going out of stealth because you hit the button one time too many.

/stopattack [combat]
/cast [nostealth] Prowl

This will disable autoattack on every press if you're in combat, as well as attempt to Prowl. You can customize it further, by giving it an action to take once Prowled if the target is in range. For example

/stopattack [combat, nostealth]
/cast [nostealth] Prowl; Pounce

This will Pounce if the first condition is not met (i.e., you are in Stealth). It will also not disable the autoattack after your Pounce because the conditions aren't met, although if you continue to spam the button it will.

Awesome, thanks!

I haven't taken the time to toy with macros since they changed them in 2.0 and it's much harder for me to figure out what they can and cannot do anymore. X_x

RPZip -- You are my new hero!! :-) lol, that sounds pretty darn decent. I will give that a try. I didn't know that you have to wait 5 seconds without combat before you can exit but this still sounds like an awesome macro to get running.

Would I still need to press the Esc Key with this??

Just thinking out loud, this 5 second rule..... Does this mean that once you hit lvl46 you can use Bash and if you have the imp. talent to give you an extra seconds worth of stun........ this is your 5 seconds and you can now get off a insta stealth / pounce followed by the usual spam shreds (mangles if you have it)??
