How does +spell dmg affect blizzard?Follow

#1 May 14 2007 at 9:50 AM Rating: Decent
It deals 400 dmg over 8 seconds, with 50 a wave for 8 waves. Does a +10 spell dmg item makes it 410 over 8 seconds or 50+10 a wave for 480 over 8 seconds? Or does it have no effect?

+frost dmg items has the same affect for the aabove scenario? thks

I have a feeling that it is 400 + 10, not 50 + 10.

+dmg is not useless. Most people at 70 will have over 500 in +dmg gear. This would make the actual base dmg of blizzard laughable if it was say 50 + 500 every tick as in your example. Also, the damage done would be so great on DOT's it would be insane.

I would say +dmg is still good for blizzard and AOE grinding, even at what you would consider a much reduced amount of damage. Keep in mind however that not all spells get 100% of the plus dmg. I believe blizzard gets a low amount due to cast time (or channelled). Some people here are math wizard and have the calculations.

While +dmg isn't worthless, you'll find a greater benefit from Int and Stamina for AoE grinding than you would for +dmg.
