free at 40 just go to trainer and thats it, at lvl 60 u have to pay a lot of money during the chain quests, i recommend at lvl 60 just get a PvP mount since no one does the lvl 60 instances they all go to outland and don't wanna do DiM West. So 40=Free Mount 60= 300g+

well the lv 40 mounts i guess is considered free, you just have to pay 1g for the skill from the warlock trainer but by the time you hit lv 40 you should get a 10% reduction due to your rep so 90s

It used to be entirely free of cost, but you had to go to ratchet to get it.
Now you learn it from any warlock trainer, but have to pay 1g.

Your lvl 40 mount is free in the sense that once you purchase the spell from your class trainer for 90s you get both the mount and the riding skill...so compared to the 90g other people have to pay yes it is QUITE free. The epic mount requires a bit more effort though, but still can be gotten for less then a normal mount.

No, at lvl 40. Locks get the summon a felsteed, You dont have to pay anything except to learn how to summon the felsteed. It's around 80s. WOW so much! So it's basically free....

well, 1g is quite cheap-but as people are saying, you might need 90s...ok, is there a place to store 1g? also, what about the riding skill needed for the mount?

This is true if you are unguilded and rely on PuGs or are in a really ****-poor guild. If you are in a ****-poor guild that won't help you get your epic mount, I suggest leaving it, and the faster the better. Would you want someone beside you in raid or PvP that flakes out like that? So far, my guild has run 5 of our 'locks through the quest, and guildies have been generous in providing the skills necessary to farm and create the necessary items needed in the quest string. Additionally, we have three 'locks with the four items necessary to complete the quest, so our warlocks don't need to shell out the 250G for the final quest.

The same is true for the Paladin quest. I have been on 3 Pally mount runs in the last month.

The riding skill comes with the Summon Felsteed. You don't need anything else expect for the 80-90s it takes to learn from your Lock trainer to Summon the Felsteed. Let me break it down.....

You just hit 40.... Go to the Lock trainer in your main city.
Buy the "summon Felsteed" for 90s
Go outside and click on summon felsteed.
"OMFGDUDEPWNLEETNESS" Your now on the felsteed and can ride it.
There is no other skill to learn or get or buy regardless of what any other nubs tell you. Simply buy the summon felsteed then go use it. No riding skill to buy afterwards.

Not sure what you mean by, "a place to store the 1g?" After you hit 40, go to your trainer and you get the mount and riding skill for 1G or 90s (depending on rep I guess). After that you will have a new spell in your spellbook. Put it on your hotbar and just click it to ride your mount.

This is one of those perks to being a lock, a really cheap mount and riding skill all done with the simple click of the mouse at your trainer.

i had a hunter but i switched to warlock for the free mount.
you can store items at the bank, so is there a place where you can store cash, about from another character?

well cash doesn't take up any slots or anything. It is just there. You can mail cash from one toon to the other and can carry an infinite amount of gold without taking up any slots or needing to bank any of it, but by the time you hit 40...you better have at least 1G on you if not lots lots lots more.

Actually, since we're buying new spells for not just ourselves but for our demons it probably evens out. When you look at cash spent, my guess is that our mount isn't as "free" as people claim. It is the coolest mount though.

all of the pet training up to and including level 40 is 18G 33S (according to the values that thottbot has for each Grimoire of such-and-such. Plus the 1G for the mount and training I guess would make it total a little over 19G for demon training all together until level 40.

Hey, it is a slow day at work.
