I've never tried this one. Not sure if it's worth it.
Haven't you tried drain hunting? It's easy - good pace to it - good for grinding, at least for me.
You sic VW, coa, cor, wait for second or third taunt to land (to help vw keep agro), immo - tap - drain - then sb, that new fire dd, or wand to shorten fight. If you don't sb you end up ending each fight near full on mana and health. If you sb (or use the new fire dd - incinerate?) - you lost a bit of mana each fight, but you'll have to drink way less often.
Another option: before you start a grinding session, find a mage - offer him a healthstone for 60 summoned waters. They often go for it.
Edit, I'm not sure the small mana gain is worth not having a pet, especially for grinding. What you're talking about is more a raiding build. If you're worried mainly about grinding to 70, don't you want an effective grinding build? Or tactic - again consider drain hunting. It's very effective. Yeah, you're not using your destr talents much for grinding, but they are there for emergencies (adds), pvp and bg. Yes, it feels like you're killing way slower, too - you're not, esp. when you work out when to amp up dps w/ a shadowbolt or incinerate, or finish off w/ a shadowburn.
