Warrior's union....Follow

I am an arms specced lvl70 warrior, I am geared up for DPS / PvP and I am normally only out-dps'ed in AV by huntards and warlocks.

I do quite a few instances with my guild, sometimes tanking but mostly as DPS. I might not be up there with a mage but I feel I contribute to the party as a DPS warrior. So I was suprised when someone in my guild, who I have never partied with, said he'd never go to an instance with two warriors - he voiced that opinion in strong terms. Considering he was a warrior I found that a bit annoying. We started discussing this in guild chat but it soon turned into a "Yes I am", "No you aren't" tennis match about whether a DPS warrior is a useful member of the team.

Does he has a point? I know the lack of any real crowd control could be an argument for not including a warrior, but with other classes who can, plus a warriors damage mitigation, I feel that would not be such an issue.

Even if he is right considering he was a guildie trying to position himself as main tank I feel ruling out including me in any instance was not the attitude I would expect from a "team mate". I was curious what line he would take if I was the only available member for the last slot on a guild run, he seemed to suggest he would look outside the guild.

I found his attitude frustrating. If his thinking is right I should re-roll as a rogue, as they seemed acceptable to this guy, but I want to be an in-your-face melee class. Maybe there is a niche for some new DPS-only melee class which would suit my prefered playstyle, but I am not sure what that would be..

Now I have got that off my chest....

I've ran Ramparts a few times with 2 warriors and it has worked out well. Tanked one of them and DPS'd the other run. Both runs went smooth...

You have the option to OT if the MT doesn't see the healer being hit.

He probably doesn't want another warrior in the group because it's competition for loot. For some runs though, two warriors is going to be a liability, depending on the particular instance (i.e. a boss that is better fought ranged than melee, or lots of multi-mob pulls). And the instance thing really only applies to heroics, two warriors, a healer and whatever else will do fine in any non-heroic.

My guess from what you have posted is that he's an arrogant ***. Don't re-roll just because of him because with all of the ridiculous attunement requirements, you'd never get caught up.

As as side note, unless your gear is amazing, you may do more DPS as a fury warrior for instances. Obviously, it will kill your PvP if that's what you love. But I have noticed that if I'm Arms and go to an instance to DPS, I do a lot less damage than when I'm Fury, and I'm always rage-starved. And my gear for both builds is pretty close to the best you can get on the blue side of the house. I have read recently that Arms builds can now out-damage Fury, but only in extreme cases of amazing gear (all purples, etc). Anyways, just my two cents.

Arms should outdamage Fury in a 5-man instance if doing Sweeping Strikes/Whirlwind won't get you killed. Fury can't really match that AE damage.

That's really only a factor in normal instance though, Sweeping Strikes in a Heroic is an excellent way to get yourself killed.

With the gear I have, I do more damage as a Fury build than as an Arms build in instances. But I have a pretty decent amount of +hit items, and a good MH/OH combo that seems to work pretty well. My Arms weapon is a Plasma-Rat with Savagery, so it isn't too bad, and my crit rate is around 28% I believe when I spec arms with Poleaxe/Axe spec, so I do decent damage also. Just speaking from my experience though, and stuff I have gathered from the forums. On the times I have DPS'd in instances, generally the tank doesn't do a good job pulling the /assist away from CC's, so it's hard to use cleave, SS, etc sometimes. I also specced Arms/Prot or Fury/Prot, so I never got Imp Cleave on my Arms build, which would help a lot with my DPS I'm sure.

How I miss the days of being fury. If I could just get another warrior in my guild that is geared enough to MT kara I'd respec. I keep collecting gear in hopes that one day I will find one lol. Just got my Doomplate Shoulders last night :D

Now I am not 70 yet, but sitting with a lvl 51 warrior, Arms specced. The last time I ran ST, we had a druid(tank), Warrior(Fury), Myself(Arms), Priest, Hunter. I was out-dpsing the fury warrior no problem, So I guess it all depends on how you know how to play your class and spec. I have never tried Fury, and I do not think I would switch, I started out as Arms, and have loved every lvl of it, it just keeps getting better and better IMO.

As RPZip said, if you have the green light to AoE, then you should out dps a fury warrior. Problem is, you don't get that green light very often.

moderately geared arms warrior will perform better than a moderatly geared fury warrior..

adding that at his lvl he has no +hit available to him other than a trinket and a pair of shoulders hes undergeared by standard.
