Warrior/Priest DuoFollow

My buddy and I are leveling a Warrior/Priest duo and we're both kinda curious as to specs and gear. He's used to a Rogue and I'm used to a Druid. The thing is, I'm the Priest and I'm speccing Shadow. Should he spec Arms to increase kill speed or Prot to make up for my slightly lackluster healing? We do instances and world PvE, more world than instances but enough that it'd matter. He's obviously going all str/sta, I understand I should go mp/5 and + shadow damage, is that correct? Should I bother with damaging stuff in instances or just heal? Are two handed staves better generally or a one handed weapon and an off hand item? Are there any good guides set up for this type of combo to get to 60 ASAP? I like guides, they take the guess work out of the game.

What should we do?

haha, first thing first, if you are rolling a shadow spec, never admit to reduced healing. yea you know what, we might not get the numbers of holy priests but that isn't the point. healing is all a matter of timing and anticipation. If he specs prot, good on him for instance runs, but he wont be good for anything else. yea he can solo alittle, but he becomes to reliant on other people to do the DPS. I ran with a warrior for awhile in my 60 and he was fury specced. the amount of damage we dished out was amazing and well made up for the lack of me casting heals other then my VE. Also, as far as gear wise. if you are going to be leveling then go for the +spell/healing. Shadow gear is nice for pvp, but you are a priest, remember that, you will be called on to heal at times. If you go for the shadow damage gear, then you are gimping our main purpose in the game. And as far as weapons. it depends really on what you are looking for. Stats on staves are usually better then mace/dagger and offhand. but the damage/healing bonus that you can make with the combo weapons is usually a bit higher. its kinda a personal choice to what you like, and what you think looks cool. Once you get into higher end gear, the staves start dominating over the one handed stuff, but even there, i have noticed that for damage a staff might be better, but for healing, a mace and off hand usually is the best choice. and lastly, Mp5 is really nice, but dont gimp your mana pool for it. You are going to need as much mana as you can get because while DPSing you are going to burn it quickly. Put your first 5 points into spirit tap, that gives you the 100% spirit increase and well makes up for many of the Mp5 items you may pass on. and for guides, look on the WoW homepage, in the priest forums. i found a lot of great advice and stratigies in there that i still use. there are so many different builds out there that you just have to find one that you like.

Enjoy your priest, and welcome to the brotherhood of the shadow.
