When is it ideal to switch to DW fury build?Follow

#1 May 10 2007 at 8:27 AM Rating: Good
I just recently started playing WOW again after about a 6 month break. I started up with a NE warrior just because I love the in your face battle style that they bring. I use a sword and shield right now and was wondering if it would be worth switching to DW at lvl 20 or should I wait until I hit higher lvls? I love the DW fighting style but at lvl 20 I'm not sure if I'd be as sucessful lvling up with it as I would be with sword and shield. Any thoughts? Thanks guys.

You would be better off going with a good 2 hander. DW base miss rate will make you want to kill yourself until you get higher and get access to +hit gear.

Oh and WOOT, post 1000!

Right on guys, thanks for the info. I think I'll go with the 2H until I get to a higher lvl. It apears to me that I'll get max DPS with that build until I can just rip through people with my DW build! Thanks again.

DW fury for high dps. Quickest way to down solo mobs, prot is actually a decent way to lvl if you use all your dmg mitagation skills you dont take much dmg and you dont need to eat/heal between fights so less downtime. PVP go 2h MS and for multi mobs pve (ss) unless you have a pocket healer only expect to pull off a few hits including instants before your CC'd, so you want them to count...

Back when lvl 60 was the roof, 1000+ unbuffed ATT PWR was reccomended to be effective IN PVP, but for grinding fury is actually quite fun and effective.

The only way to use prot effectively while hunting is to use all your def. mitigation skills and def stance IMHO. Still gives you time for more dps oriented skills, may take some practice but a good prot warrior can kill at a decent rate and still take very little dmg pve. Not a great way to do it but hey if your already prot you gotta do what you gotta do. Im just saying it can be done but kinda hard and your pressing a hell of alot more buttons then just spamming MS WW etc. And you have like 0 pvp viability so yah, blizz? buff prot so you can pvp without having .00000001 timing and epic sets? more kill power for prot anyone?

The only instance drops with good +hit (which is the no. one stat for any DW warrior) are 50+. You get an awesome ring from the princess in mara. You need to be around 50 to tank her tho. You get a +hit weap from the last boss in ST, for which you'll need about lvl 52-54... Then there are BRD drops with +hit. All other +hit gear are from KWASTS.

The conclution we can draw from this is that the minimum lvl for DW to be efficient is 50+. I would only go DW for endgame tho. I usually say "lvl 1-40 with 2h fury. Then respec MS and lvl 40-70 MS" It's not what I did but when I lvled my warrior I was a total nub. After looking back this way is certainly the way to go (I lvled 60-70 with MS).

i went DW as soon as i hit lvl 20. for me the first 19 levels with 2h and nothing but heroic strike was an immense sucksfest. you never have any rage to work with.
with DW i might get some crazy miss streaks, but i also get some crazy crit streaks, so i'm ok with it. most of the time though, the lack of hit isn't that noticable. i still rip thru mobs at an acceptable pace.

DW = ftw!!

i dinged 55 this morning and ive respeced arms--fury + hybrid versions loads of times but its now 30g and i cant afford to do it again but i <3 furry so much more than arms, my combat text never stops i do loads of damage and im normally the strongest dps in instaces except for the odd mage..

furry ftw
bloodthirst ftw
deathwish ftw
rampage ftw
lower def. =`(

or you can have...

arms ftw.

I can relate to that, hehe. Started dual wielding immediately at 20 too. But then, I had a dual wielding shaman too, so I'm used to the higher miss rate. It's really not quite *that* bad... Your DPS *will* go up, despite the misses.

I've used DW from 20 to 63 and it has been great. I worked my 2H swords skill up on the way just to stay on top of the weapon skill cap. Recently changed to a Fury/Prot hybrid spec but have not tested it yet. The 45 points I had in Fury was cut down to about 35 but I'm hoping there won't be that much of a change as I plan to DW with it still.

When I was the 100% fury build at level 62/63 with just the bonus from the tallent skills turning on I would have around 1500 AP. It was nice for solo quest grinding.

I started DW when I hit 29-30. When I got the chance I started pumping points into my DW, I have 4/5 so far at level 37. I do notice I go on miss streaks here and there but overall I like it better than 2H. I haven't run any parsers or anything but I would be willing to bet that I have a higher DPS with DW than with 2H.

No DRG for party, camp spot site with 30 dmg, but is it for 20 like 30 dmg when you no hit be it for dd, for 30 dmg instead? or half is 10 for 20 dmg?

What??? I now feel dumber just for having read this.
