My ZF run last nightFollow

Im an arms spec warrior at lvl 47. Ive been using the bonebiter ever since around lvl 35 when i picked it up from SM. Just recently though ive been using the Blight polearm (sp) to get my skill up for when i get the IBS.

Anyway.....

So, whenever i join a group (i have to PUG quite a lot as my guild is poor!) stright away comes the, 'your tanking' which is fine. I liked tanking, not that i was particulary good at it. I would stay in battle stance as this is where my talents are, and just hope that no one would 'out' aggro me. Which, as you can guess did happen fairly often.

I'd try to do ZF around 4 times before, but would always have people AFK'ing or doing some crazy pulls and b1tching at me for not taking them all out with one swing lol.
So i join this group. We have a preist healer, rogue, mage and warlock as dps and me as the tank.
I get out my sword and board just for a change i try defensive stance. OMG! What a difference! now before you come on all, 'well dur you n00b thats what your supposed to do', i never really felt the need to go defensive, especially as i was missing out on imp overpower etc.

But now im converted! I was nothing short of amazing. Dropping taunts left right and center. Not once did and of the other group get aggro. The healer was great, my health didn't drop below half throughout. We completed the instance in no time at all, and i picked up some new plate shoulders and a blue 1h sword with parry increase on it.

This is one happy tank. :)

PuGs do work, QFT. You get to meet some nice and interesting people too. I found that as long as the members of your group are communicating in a mature manner, you'll be able to finish the instance. Even if you have to a wipe once or twice to work out a strategy.

And gratz on finally learning the defensive stance and getting a nice sword and shoulder.

/agree

My major issue is finding a Guild with peeps my age. I'm 29, and I have gone thru quite a few guilds that have thier vent chats full of 10-14 year olds >< no offence to kids, but I'm not on the same page & find it tough to enjoy the company. Plus a good solid mature 10 year old player is very rare and hard to find. Wish Blizz could post your age on your profil in-game somehow. I think finding good PUGs, for even youger players (i'm sure they get along nicely when they can relate), would be alot easier.

Plus the "you should spec this... buy that piece of gear... do this with your gold... blah-blah-blah" gets very old.

Congrats Furiouspilgrim!

I'm over 30 :) I find it irritating when people type in semi-legible txt speak. I also can't stand temper tantrums that some young people tend to throw when things don't go their way. But generally, I'm very easy going. Having an expectation that most people in game are kids probably helps.

For the details:

All threat you cause in Battle or Berserker stance is multiplied by 0.8.

All threat you cause in Defensive stance is multiplied by 1.3 (1.45 with talents).

1.3/0.8 = 1.625

You're causing 62.5% more aggro by going into defensive stance.

Don't Taunt left and right. It's useless to taunt mobs that you already have aggro'ed. Taunt mobs that you lost aggro of.

Even me as a pure Fury spec warrior can benifit from switching to defensive stance. I always carry a sheild in my bag so I can tank if need be. If I end up tanking I use sheild and switch to Defensive Stance frequently. I used to be the same as you and never use it. Until someone from a pug group suggested it..... Even though getting people who tell you what to do all the time sucks. I just decided to try his opinion and go with it. It was a good idea. I'm still not liking the whole tank all the time thing. Fury is a fun spec and I love the DMG output. Usually that keeps me on the target anyways.

try The guild Riot. Go to RiotGuild.com and check us out. There is a high level of maturity here.
