This post is not directed at "all" of you (certainly not Arthas, Caldone, Aethian, etc. - thanks guys- you're among the few who understand).

Wow, talking about whoosh... thank you dudes, the trolls wins because you guys couldn't leave well enough alone.

This was just too subtle for most of you.

Trolls don't want "all" kinds off attention. They want STRONG negative attention. They want people yelling at them. They want conflict. Not mild /yawn go away - which was the tone I was going for - again - way too subtle for some of you "the world is black and white" types.

What I was hoping to do in my post was to either send him somewhere else (to ffxi, if he's really that dumb) or at least to send him a message - we are aware he's necroposting and trying to get our goad - and the best we're going to do is to shrug and ask him to go to FFxi for the "real attention" he needs.

And you guys all blew it.

You need to go to Troll School, my friends. I was handling this situation fine. You all made it totally backfire, and now Chuucky has won - and is laughing bigtime at all of us.

(wouldn't it be funny if Chuucky were MY sock? It isn't, but....)

When it's a troll, you've got to think.

Let's go over some basic troll rules:

1. Don't feed the troll.

2. When someone else has fed the troll, ignore it - yelling at them for feeding the troll is feeding the troll, too - use a pm if you have to.

3. Learn the difference between "attention" and "the real attention trolls crave." Mm'kay? (not very hard)

4. Think before you post. If you're not sure of what you're doing, don't post.

5. Don't feed the troll.

6. Don't feed the troll.

7. When your friends have made a situation all totally snafu, throw your hands in the air and run around screaming like a little girl!

As an admin, I feel obliged to say something like "I think everyone pretty well agrees that this thread is not doing anyone any good" and lock it. Which I will do.

However, as a user of this forum, I do feel obliged to ask what the heck is going on. I've gathered that chuucky necroed a few things, but darned if I look at his posts in the last 2 weeks and can't find most of the offensive posts I hear referenced. Possibly another admin nuked them, but I should still be able to see them if that's the case. So without anything to go on myself beyond bumping a few old threads, and a surprisingly articulate person behind it all in this thread, I'm not going to join the lynch mob just yet. Maybe he's a troll, maybe he's just someone who wanted to revive a couple old threads. His first reply in this thread said he wanted a reaction...but to what end?

On the other hand, I'm going to say something that is going to sound a bit off from what you're expecting to read here: everyone ELSE - especially the thread-starter who fueled it early on with a few replies - is essentially trolling, looking for a reaction out of Chuucky. People BSing off-topic and bumping the thread are just keeping it alive until the next reply.

If you want to learn about trolling, the best thing you can do - at least on these forums - is rate down and not reply. Replying keeps it alive, and gives people what they want.

So while I don't know who's a troll and who isn't, I do know that this particular thread needs to go.
