Firstly, Slam. In the FAQ it lists this as a great skill, but at lvl 35 Heroic Strike is still doing much more damage. I take it this skill improves greatly during the later levels, or am I misunderstanding something?

Secondly, at lvl 44 should I be using Ornate Mithril Breastplate or Truesilver Breastplate? It seems the general consensus is that the TB isn't great, but any opinions on which would be better for my Arms Sword specced warrior would be appreciated. Thanks!

HS negates your next melee swing (white dmg). So does Slam.
HS is nice dmg for a low rage cost. So is Slam.
HS is mostly for rage dumping after you ding 40 and get MS/BT. So is Slam.
Slam makes your weapon a 1.5 speed. HS does not.

So, if you've got a ton of rage it's safe do draw the conclution you'll do more burst DPS if you use Slam rather than HS.
Since HS costs 50% more than Slam, and the constant on HS shouldn't exceed 50% of your weapon dmg at lvls where Slam is avalable to you, it's also safe to draw the conclution that Slam gives you more dmg per rage point.

I'd list TB as a sort-of-hard-to-get thing. Imo the mats arn't worth it. Imo crit is better than stam for soloing, especially since big crits should be what arms specced 2h warriors whould aim at. Imo the proc is really great but I'd use it for tanking.

Thanks, that clarifies a lot.

I have both chests, bought the TB for like 10g. Thanks for the advice, if I end up not tanking I can sell it for more and still see it as a worthy investment.

Slam resets your swing timer, but it does not take the place of your auto-attack. Getting good damage out of Slam requires great reflexes and/or a swing timer mod. Not being good at timing with Slam will nerf your damage hard.

galkaman - since you're arms spec i'm assuming you won't have imp. slam, but regular slam is still faster than a regular 2h attack (2sec vs >3sec). you WILL have to be spot on with the timing.

ornate mithril breastplate and a 100 health enchant would have been ideal. the difference in armor rating wouldn't be considerable.

Heroic Strike essentially 'steals' all the damage dealt by your next autoattack (or, to put it another way, steals the entire attack timer). Slam, if timed properly, 'steals' 1.5s of your autoattack timer (.5s with talents). With realistic reaction times and a swing timer mod (plus lag), you're getting essentially a 2.0 speed swing (or 1.0 speed with talents) of your weapon.

Used properly, it's very, very good. Used improperly (such as just _before_ your next swing) and you would have been better off doing nothing.
