Ok, I'm sort of new to the World of Warcraft, I've played a few characters up to the mid 20s and decided I liked priest the best. What's better than being a caster capable of both melting faces and fixing them? I've read a lot of things on here about Shadow Priests being good with PvP, and loved the Forsaken, so you can guess what my character is :) (FFXI convert btw, hence the name...which will eventually be changed).

Anyway! A few nights ago a few friends of mine joined with me in pt and we went off to Arathi Basin (20-29, I'm 28) for fun. ...We never stood a chance.

For a tiny bit it was fun, but then defending the Lumber Mill something insane happened. I sat to drink after a hard fight, and got Ambushed (I think)...and one shotted. The damage was recorded at 1362, and this was even with Inner Fire up! Later, a shaman dropped me within 4 seconds of coming into range for Mind Flay...

I'm at a loss; what tactics does a priest employ vs. these targets?

There is my normal PVE armory link, I have more +stamina for pvp, but some of my gear still sucks...

Also, any general PVP tips for a SP would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm afraid that you've had the unfortunate experience of running into a twink group. The lower-level brackets are havens for people who compensate for a lack of skill by buying the best concievable gear for, say, level 19, or 29, then beat up on lesser foes to stroke their e-peens.

Ahem. Went off a little.

There really is no defense against it, per se, other than to get out of the bracket. Generally against rogues you don't want to be caught sitting down, since the first attack is guaranteed to crit a sitting opponent. Your PvP trinket, when you get it, will help escape the stunlock. Get some distance if you can, get a DoT on them, and just try to keep them off.

Shaman are pretty variable and, generally, a tough matchup; all of our self-buffs are nothing more than Purge fodder for them. Get them away from their totems if at all possible. The two to watch out for particularly are Grounding, which absorbs spells, and Tremor, which breaks fear. Both are susceptible to quick wand shots. If the shaman tries to stand back and nuke, back out of twenty yards and start healing; he'll go OOM before you will and his only spell interrupt is range-limited. If he rushes you for melee it'll be harder; again, keep him away from his totems, DoT him up, fear him away when he closes, and try to kill him before he can close again.
