This worries me. I have been reading the Druid Fourms here and on the WoW website and it seems that a lot of Druids HAve 3 or more sets. I want to Know... Why? Surely If you are spec'ed to heal then you should only heal in a group... or If you are feral to only Tank or DPS in a group. I don't see much point in carrying round 4 sets of gear just so you can be ok at the job you are no good at, and cr&ppy at the job you spec'ed!

Can someone clarify why some Druids do this? Is it really that important in end game?

I don't have 3 or 4, but I do have 2 sets plus a few extra items. I have a feral set and a healing set with some +spell damage mixed in. I used to keep the heal/spell set in the bank and go get it if a group wanted me to heal. This weekend though I got the Outfitter addon. Now I wear the caster set walking around and automatically switch to the feral set when I shapeshift. It's made a noticable difference in pvp; I don't run out of mana so much when not in feral form but I can still do tons of damage as cat/bear.

My heal/spell set fits in one 16-slot bag with a couple of spots still open. Don't think I'd want to carry a full 3rd set unless I had a bunch of expensive 20-slot bags.

We aren't just ok at any job, we can do everything. We just can't do more than one thing at once.

A fully feral specced druid can main heal any instance run with the right gear.

That doesn't mean we will keep our inventory completely full of gear at all times, but we will definitely have a backup set in the bank.

At end game, that's pretty much all anyone does is collect gear. You won't really miss the money you would have made vendoring the stuff, especially with how much gold flows in post-expansion.

I also only have two sets.
  • tank/dps - str/sta/agi
  • healing - int/+heal
  • Also, just because you are specced feral for example, it doesnt mean you cant heal well. Just check the AH and keep useful quest items and im sure that as you level, you will begin to get armour with useful stats for different roles

At the most basic level, a druid will maintain a caster set and a feral set.

I'd replace your chest, back, boots and a ring for your casters set. The rest seems perfectly usable (nice actually) for functioning as a healer or a magic caster.

Definitely keep those four pieces for a feral set, if for no other reason, those are nice enchants. You'll want to replace your head piece and belt, and get yourself a nice weapon for feral.

As balance/feral, you're less in need of gear. I would think you solo magic dps style, and that equipment works well for healing in instances. Most +dmg gear is +dmg AND +heal. However, if you're taking points in feral, you might as well use them. In that case, you'll want some special feral gear for instancing.

I have tanking gear with 20.5k armor, 12.5k health, & 420 Defense (crit immune)

I have cat gear which has 2.4k AP & 29.8% crit.

    I have healing gear with +988 healing & 48 mana/5sec.

If I DPS in my tanking gear, I do about 2/3 the damage I do in my cat gear. If I tank in my DPS gear, I die quick :)

My healing gear (despite being full feral spec) is good enough to heal all (non-heroic) instances. This does require proper use of cc and DPS not pulling agro off the tank.

In Karazhan, I have main tanked (1st 3 bosses), topped the DPS chart, & healed depending on what is required. So yes, multiple sets of gear is a very good idea :)

Most of the time I'm full feral and I have 3 sets pretty similar to RB's, although the stats aren't the same.
Tanking set I have around 18K armour, 13K HP and 400 Defenece
DPS set is around 2K AP, 30$ crit.
Healing set is 8K mana, 50ish MP/5 and +800 Healing

The 4th set I have (which sits in the bank most of the time is a Balance set with around +650 Damage/Healing and stacks my Mana up to 9K while still having some HP, Armour and AP. This is for when I want to play with ka-boomkin for a break from the melee stuff.

Still handy for some solo question where the elite mob would tear even my feral bear apart, but root and nuke makes it a walk over.
