I is just me or is it really hard to gather the items for 3-4 sets for differant rolls? I'm behind par on my current set as it is with some stuff being 10-15 lvls old but I can seem to find any thing better much less make 2 more sets. This SHOULD be a link to my profile *cross fingers*...sloniah

Does any1 have any ideas/suggestions for where a 49+ Druid can get some good armor for tanking and healing primaraly. I'm prolly gunna look up WoW loot here in a bit, but I'm looking for notable items that all of you have used for longer-than-average time frames.

Well currently at 50 (just got yesterday), I have 4 sets, my tanking set, kitty set, balance/healing set, and hybrid. My tanking has more str and sta while cat has more str and agi with stam, some pieces I use in both sets. My balance/ healing sets are just int, sta, spirit and some +healing and +spell dmg armor. My hybrid is a mixture of both balance and tank so i can pvp whiel having decent mana to heal. All of my armor are from drops, except rings, other that just make sure to do instances. Uldaman is good for Feral, and there are some nice drops in Zul'Farak for balance (int and spirit stuff). The PvP rewards (BG rewards) are nice too, so make sure to do some BG. Also make sure to do the druid quest at 50, nice feral chest piece. Also the Sunken temple has nice shoulder drops for both feral and balance/healing. Can't link my proflie but it under Midnightbull in armory (have balance stuff on), but if you want I can leave my feral set on tomorrow (this is considering you are in your 50s)? I can't get on armory, blocked on this computer with almost all proxies.

Whoa, no, slow down. :P
You're still 49 so no need to carry a bunch of set. Well, it depends.

At most, a Druid will carry 4 sets of gear. Some will also carry random pieces on top of that but I call that madness. Sets are: Nuke, Heal, Kitty, Bear. However, at lower levels, you can just ignore some of those.

In your case, being Feral: Obviously you carry gear with Feral stats. However, some Druids like to carry a more Cat-oriented set for soloing and a more Bear-oriented set for tanking. In the early levels, it is not required but in end-game Bear and Cat cannot really use the same gear. (i.e. Bear set will have more Stam, AR, +Def, etc while Cat will have more Str, Agi and Crit.)

For your healing set, I would suggest the following (worked for me so far): When offered quest rewards, if there is nothing to benefit your Feral set and there is something that could be nice for your healing set, take it. May sound simple, but I usually just pick whatever will vendor for the most cash when I don't need any of the rewards. Other than that, random greens you find along with won Greed rolls over caster items in instances will make up the rest of your gear. I wouldn't suggest buying stuff in the AH for your healing set, especially since you can get by with sub-par gear at lower levels.

Then, if you feel like it, you may want to carry a more offensive caster-oriented set if you ever wanna... nuke... without Balance talents... *shrugs*

As for your current gear, I would suggest not bothering *too much* with that. Focus on leveling and check the AH once in a while. The time lost in instances to get some good blues will be greater than the time it would have taken you to level and thus out-level those items.

You helm is fine.
Your shoulders are fine (why Nature resist though? O_o).
Your cloak is fine (again, Nat resist O_o).
Your chest is fine.
Your bracers are outdated but the enchant makes up for it.
Your gloves are fine.
Your belt is outdated so get a new one from the AH.
Your pants are fine, but could use an upgrade.
Your boots are fine, but could use an upgrade.
Your rings could use upgrades. If you have a JC friend try to get this and that.
Your necklace is fine, but could use an upgrade.
Your staff is okay for an hybrid build but you'd be better off with some green from the AH like this.

Still, don't bother too much and just level up. Once you hit Outland you won't really have to worry about AH anymore with all those tasty quest rewards.

Until you hit 58 it is pointless to even worry about compiling gear. Yes keep gear that will help you level quickly, but in the first few quests you do in Outlands everything you had prior is going to be a joke.

Yeah don't worry too much while leveling. The gear grind really starts at the level cap.

The only stuff in the 50-60 range that I still have is tanking gear.

and if you are an enchanter this is awesome:

If your server is still actively running level 50-60 instances you can find some nice stuff, but it will be better use of your time to just head to Outlands where all that gear will be quickly replaced anyway.

My Guild runs MC and Onixya on a pretty regular basis, and I'm going to try to get into mara and sunkin temple here pretty soon too.

you dont "need" 3-4 sets, at least not at your level.

hell, you dont "need" 3-4 sets ever. unless you want to be seen as a good, prepared druid (and if youre on this board then thats the kind of thing we want to encourage).

having said that, at 49, a "caster" set consists primarily of int/spr or int/stam stuff (depending on pve or pvp). even then you can just go int/stam for pve and manage just fine in the vast majority of situations.

your feral set likewise will consist of str/stam gear mostly with some agi tossed in on the side. the best you can do for tanking is to pickup a warden staff, which will then become your "tanking set". find a str/agi 2h mace or something similar to DPS with, and if you get aggro or find you need to tank, pop into bear and equip the warden staff. voila; instant tank gear.

in other words, dont worry about getting "3-4" sets until, at the earliest, 65. most of the time a tank set and a casting set will suffice, as tank stats for a druid can often pull double duty in a dps roll (with the exception of armor...stam is still nice for dps just for aoe).

Just a note: Your tank gear, at early levels, should pretty much be your kitty gear with some more stamina instead of strength. Agility > strength for tanking as agility gives dodge which is one of our strongest assets when tanking.

We can't block or parry incoming blows. We have to dodge them or take them.

To tag onto the AGI thing since I have ImpLotP then I should be helping the healers with some minor self-healing.

Improved Leader of the Pack is nice, but when you're facing mobs that hit you for 400 through Bear armor, it's not much. Smiley: frown

Still worth getting, in my opinion.

Personally, I don't think you should be worrying about gear at all. Get the gear that comes from quests/drops while you are questing/grinding. You're only level 49!! You should be worrying about getting your next level and continue worrying about your next level until you are 70. THEN you can worry about gear.

Along the way, you'll just find stuff that's good for tanking, or good for healing, or good for dps. If you run an instance, often times a leather peice will drop that NOONE WANTS because if it's for healing, healers wear cloth... if it's for tanking, tanks wear plate. The only thing you have to compete with is DPS gear.

Anyways, this is just my personal opinion. I'm still a newbie, been playing for 9 weeks, but I have a level 61 druid with a decent tank set and healing set. I'm full feral and DPS like there's no tomorrow.

Have fun.
