Solo chests in Mana Tombs.

There's ~3 in every instance, and you can reset the instance 5 times in an hour. Some of the items that drop go for quite alot on the AH, you can have your epic flyer in about a week

Steam Vaults works well too, although you have to be a bit more careful.

yeah, that's what I was thinking. Do you manage to open chests without having 4 mobs on you? Or do you take one mob out, vanish, rinse, repeat?

Also, this looks like something only a combat build could do, do you think it's viable for a mutilate spec?

Even as a combat spec, it would be very difficult to get all 3 chests in Mana Tombs as a lone rogue. Minimum you have 3 mobs to fights, which is certainly doable with adrenaline rush and blade flurry (sapping a mob at the start) - I've done that for the first chest and it did yield a nice blue.

However, the second and third chests are guarded by 3-4 mobs each (3 is ok, 4 is...well, even with evasion, AR, and BF, 3 64 elites is bound to make you hurt quite a bit). As for SV, you're dealing with 3-4 lv 70 elites there, so I'm not quite sure how you would go about snagging those chests. I could see duoing this quite easily as rogue+druid or dual rogue though. 1/2 the gold, but much easier, especially if one of the rogues is imp sap.

I'm not saying it's impossible (it's not, mana tombs is possible at the very least), but it IS rather tricky and involved some nasty group fights and a little luck. Perhaps Shao could offer some suggestions on how to go about this?

My personal favorite is Arc, but they've made adjustments to the chest spawn so it's not nearly so lucrative.

yup, that's pretty much what I do, except I AR+BF and take out the caster+1 so I only have a single one to deal with (the warrior). I'm not sure what the treasure tables are for those chests, but I was averaging about 20-30g per chest. Not bad, but I can make as much as fast through other methods (albeit much less exciting). Then again, you can always get lucky. ;)

I had my first run without dying now. Getting the hang of it.

Considering each chest contains ~6g in straight cash, another 3g from DE'n the green that every chest has, then the 25g you get every 3 or so runs from a full stack of lichen added with the 50g you get every 3 or so runs when you get a blue gem, a few deaths aren't too big of a deal.

Thanks m8 :) Spended whole night in MT with my combat+sub build, it rly works
few more things:

if lichen guarded by 2 mobs: sap one > blind another from stealth > collect > vanish w/o any fighting. This doesn't works with chests because you will be considered "in combat"

I think this way of ninjaing mana tombs is the true skill check for a rogue, respect to Shao

P.S. It's far from epic flappy but few blue gems and few stacks of major defense are already on AH :P

P.P.S. No matter locked chest or not. Just look at this name
bound/solid fel iron/adamantite

These chests contain items of different level (item lvl) so hunt for adamantite ones.

And ofc better chests in better instances, also I got few cheap blues from 1 chest in Arcatraz (Room of Zereketh the unbound uder the stairs)

yeah killing stuff in manatombs was pretty fun. Watch out for the warrs and their bleed effect and the darkcasters with the Shadow word pain that ticks for 1k. Other than that, pretty easy. The 4 or 5 mana fish grps are the easiest ones imo.

Many props to this thread, went and tried it today and it worked great...after 4-5 deaths that is. As a combat rogue i do things slightly differently, i dont really need to kite the mobs around, and find it easier to just dps them down face to face.

Rate ups ftw.
