Hi people! My mage is now level 21 and I really want to start AoE-grinding. Since I am planning to use Leatherpatches approach, I will need to respec from Fire to Frost, although I won't do so until I am of the right level to start. About builds, which one of these is best?

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=oZZMhMhs this build makes it able to start at 23, although at that level I won't have Cone of Cold and mobs will resist now and then.

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=obZZMhMhs if I use this build, I have good protection against mobs resisting with 2 different talents, and I can start at 25 or 26.

What do you think? Suggest one of the two builds or if you have other builds that are better, show them to me, please!

Thanks in advance!

While your build seems ok, I would advice you to wait at least till lvl 28 to start aoe-grind. You'll get some new tools, such as Cone of Cold, as well as a mana gem and a better Blizzard. Before lvl 28 just keep questing with fire.

For the future build, what I use is:

I would go all frost till lvl 33, where you get 3 pts in imp. Cone of Cold and especially Ice Block. In my opinion Frost Channeling is by far superior to Arcane Subtlety.

Thank you! That sounds much better, seeing as at 28 I will have CoC and all:) The build looked smarter, only thought it would be good having resistances as low as you could to prevent FN Resists, but in that case you can just Cold Snap-FN. Thanks again, will wait until 26-28 then!

The "Talent Progression Guide" in the Index of Mage Guides may be a useful reference for you. Happy AoE'ing :D

So, your suggestion is to wait until 32 with AoE-grinding? Is that a much better time than 28?

That is just my personal opinion. I recommend it because that is the level at which I feel you have all the core talents for Frost AoE grinding. That is not to say that you can't do it before level 32. In fact, some mages start AoE even before level 28.
