So...I've got a protection pally I made, and my trade skills are currently mining and blacksmithing. My blacksmithing is currently at 210 or so (I forget the exact number) and I'm looking at picking a specialization. The thought occurs to me, though, that I'm not going to get any use out of the end-game items (the level 70 BOPs) that a blacksmith can make.
2-handers are obviously of no use as a tank, so those are out. The one-handers aren't particularly good for a pally tank either (the one-hand sword is good for warrior tanks, but not so much for pally tanks, since it has no spell damage). The level 70 plate seems pretty decent, but I seem to recall reading a thread in the warrior forum where TheIsDeKwant implied that the bulwark of ancient kings (and blacksmithing in general) is fairly worthless for a protection pally.
So, I suppose what I'm asking is whether or not people think I'd be better off dropping blacksmithing in favor of another skill (I'm thinking enchanting) or do I just march on and hope to find some use for my blacksmithing skill?
I'd keep mining, both to sell ores, and to pass them off to my shaman alt (who is currently jewelcrafting, which I'm not overly happy with and thinking of switching to blacksmithing for the awesome level 70 axes), but like I said, I'm thinking of dropping blacksmithing, most likely in favor of enchanting. Is it worth the effort?
